SALISBURY – The Governor’s Office for Children has awarded Wicomico County $764,487 in funding for fiscal year 2018 to support local initiatives that serve children and families.
Lisa Campbell, director for Wicomico Local Management Board (LMB)/Wicomico Partnership for Families & Children, said Wicomico’s LMB partnered with Salisbury University’s Business, Economic and Community Outreach Network (BEACON) to host community forums, focus groups, surveys and interviews to develop a plan that would address the community’s most pressing needs.
“The focus is to reduce incarceration, reduce poverty, reduce youth homelessness, reduce juvenile felony offenses and increase college and career readiness,” she said.
Campbell said the Wicomico Partnership for Families & Children then submitted a grant proposal for funding based on the community planning process, which began in March of 2016 and ended this May of this year.

Did you read the article???? It says nothing about just asking questions...questions were asked in order to create a plan to provide working programs so they can get people OUT OF SECTION 8 - so they can become productive members of our community. READ and COMPREHEND before typing your cynical nonsense. Ignorance like this is what is killing our country.
Ought to have an audit to request how much free money was awarded to "reduce" in the past 10 years then how many reductions was realized because of the “free money” provided by the tax payers.
Reminds me, I heard on FOX News that Oregon has over spent its free money for college students in the first year of its program and now cannot deliver as promised. Oregon, New York, and Rhode Island are footing college students with taxpayer money putting their state in unnecessary debt, while handing college students a free education. Tennessee's program is funded by the state lottery. It began by offering new students free tuition at community college in 2015, but will expand eligibility next year to adults returning to school as well. There is no income cap.
Lesson learned "free money" funded by taxpayers does not do as well as "Lottery Money" designated for a purpose. IMO that was a no brainer, except when the Liberal Congress lets the money slip through the crack for other sources. Like the LBJ years when congress started using tax payers Social Secuity funds.
Where is Maryland’s education funding that was to come from sale of Lottery Tickets? Hogan budgeted Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset free money to student’s attending Wor-Wic. IMO the Liberals running these three counties, need to stop with the “give-aways they believe will get them reelected and learn “nothing is free” and “what you have to work to earn is appreciated more” These fools who continue to "give away" will not get my vote

So what about the community forums they used all their money for last year? Seems they are using money to redo things that already DID NOT work. What a waste.
