2017 Punkin Chunkin CANCELLED
Our non-profit, the World Punkin Chunkin Association, a 100% volunteer based group, has recently come under litigation regarding the incident where Ms. Suzanne Dakessian, a Sharp Entertainment’s employee, was involved in an unfortunate accident at our 2016 event. The pending lawsuit lists our non-profit and its officers as Defendants.
The landowners who graciously donate the use of their property each year for our non-profit endeavors are also listed as Defendants. They are reluctant to host our 2017 event in light of the lawsuit.
With less than 74 days until our event, we are left with no options. It is with our deepest regrets that we announce that 2017 Punkin Chunkin is canceled and with it, the economic impact that Delaware receives, the funds that we generate to help fund other non-profits and the scholarships for deserving youth. Refunds will be issued within the week.
It is unfortunate that Suzanne Dakessian was injured, and we continue to extend our best wishes to her, her family and her loved ones. We have no further comment at this time.

Damn shame! Greed ruins so much.
Greed? Doctors at Christina had to remove and replace a large part of the ladies skull and she's still blind in one eye. Emergency responders initially said the woman had died when paramedics got there. Like it or not, we live in a society where people are held responsible when their action cause injury.
Punkin Chunkin needs to sue the lawyers who drew up the paperwork IMMEDIATELY after she wins her case,if she wins it.She was among those who signed a form stating the PC would not be responsible for injuries. If that agreement does not hold, the amount rewarded to her needs to paid by that law firm. This post has as much as said that agreement means nothing. If PC did not hire a law firm to draw up the paperwork shame on them.
Punkin Chunkin is too dangerous
Not to mention it was a complete Drunk fest for a bunch of College and Underage Kids who had absolutely nothing to do with the actual event.
Good Riddance!
This whole thing was dumb, need to go back to Dwarf tossing!
There. Over. Done. As it should be. Was a redneck hobby that should have never been commercialized. It was bound to produce serious injury, and it did. Tailgate parties and cannons don't mix.
Give me a break.
Driving route 50 east from the Perdue Stadium to route 113 is too dangerous. Especially in the left lane on Thursday's and Friday's!!!!
It was tine, glad cooler heads prevailed. This was the right decision.
It was a matter of safety. And homemade machines heaving pumpkins had gotten out of control.
Waivers of liability are meaningless when gross negligence occurs.
Good riddance!
LAWYERS...
This is why we can't have nice things..
These are cannons as with any cannon, this includes all military and civilian, can fail at anytime for any number of reasons. You take a great risk standing near any cannon from the moment you start loading until it is fired!
Well Well, Glad I Got To experience The MUD HOPS back years ago ! Do You Young People Know What I'm Talking About ??? That Had To End Also !
