Days after a police officer was acquitted of all charges in the fatal shooting of Philando Castile, a black motorist in Minnesota, video of the shooting was publicly released on Tuesday for the first time.
Millions of people have seen the immediate aftermath of the shooting because Mr. Castile’s girlfriend had livestreamed it on Facebook. But few have seen this video – from a dashboard camera on Officer Jeronimo Yanez’s patrol car – which was played several times this month to jurors during Officer Yanez’s manslaughter trial.

Lesson #1 Don't tell an overanxious Police Officer that you have a gun.
Lesson #2 If a person was going to use their gun they probably wouldn't notify you of the existence of the gun beforehand.
Lesson #3 Always keep your car inspection ready.
Terrible useless tragedy all around.
cant fix stupid. I don't especially like kops but you pull a gun on one expect to get shot. I would shoot you to!
and that's the rest of the story!
I place no value in the girlfriend's narrative....
Lesson # 1 you were not there snowflake
lesson 2 dont be a overanxious snowflake
lesson 3 dont be a all around Ahole
7:39 such witty repartee you have.
I believe the term snowflake has officially been overused.
Don't you?
Is everybody a snowflake now?
Or has snowflake become an adverb?
He behaved snowflake-ly.
Here we go again with the dumb snowflake comments. Is this all you have? The original comment was a thought and then it's followed by insults. Do you have the ability to have a conversation? Didn't think so. This video proves the cop got away with murder and if you think otherwise than you do have hate for skin tones other than yours. Signed snowflake
"I've got a gun", then reach behind your butt? Dude killed himself with that move! Cop told him not to pull it out.
Dumbass killed himself, that's all.
Seems to me the girlfriend could care less about him, I mean, who the hell starts a video up during a loved ones tragity? Also, when told to don't move, you freeze, stupid guy asked for it. Too damn bad a good cop is going to lose his job over this idiots death.
Thankful for the dash-cam, secondly, as already stated, don't reach for anything, and always be prepared to be stopped by a police officer.
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Most of the commenters will come on here mad at the government for violating there 2nd amendment and then we see this absolute violation of this mans rights and most comments are for the same tyrannical government that just killed this man. This is what the 2nd amendment is for to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government! This was murder on video.
The officer asked for his licence. The guy clearly stated he had a firearm WHILE he was complying with the officers request to get his licence. The cop clearly overreacted because he heard the words ”I have a firearm”. Something a person with bad intentions would most likely never have revealed. Murder
No wonder Ramsey County doesn't want him on the force anymore he straight murdered the guy
I'm not reaching... seven shots fired. Disgusting, a murderer is walking free tonight and these commenters cannot get past skin color
8:34 close your eyes now pretend Castille was white
8:34 Trying to find the video where he was reaching behind his butt. Where do the rest of us find this? I saw a video where the officer asked for his license and insurance and the guy tells officer he has a gun and then tells officer multiple times he is not reaching before he's blown away. So again, where is the video that shows him reaching behind his butt as you say?
He may have murdered the guy but if you remember during the time of the incident cops were being targeted left and right it is a sad situation thinking that you as a police officer may be the next person shot doing your job so it isn't a murder when you fear for your life loose loose
I thought protocol was to have the perp put his hands outside the windows and remove him from the car.
Cop didn't follow protocol, over reacted and murdered this person.
This could have been prevented.
Guilty IMO
Cop made the stop with the preconceived thought that this was a robbery suspect and continued with that thought thru out his interactions.
Kid had no idea, and thought he was being stopped for a traffic violation.
Murder.
Exactly and the imbecile could have hurt others. The other cop who had a clear view of the right side clearly responded in a shocked and surprised manner. He ran his self and the video clearly shows he know he messed up.
Someone who knows that the cop would lie like he did
Not to mention he jeopardized the other cops life. I guarantee the other cop didnt back him behind closed doors and thats why he was let go
8:34 Sorry to say I missed seeing the part where he reached behind his butt(funny but that is where I keep my wallet with my license, not my gun which would be uncomfortable to sit on and might accidentally discharge and hurt like heck). Could you be so kind as to point it out to me?
BS SMOWFLAKE.
American legally carrying a firearm shot after informing officer that he was carrying a firearm.
Officer is on edge because Castile matched the description of a bank robbery suspect due to his "wide nose". Lots of people saying that he brought it upon himself, officer comes to the window and as you go to produce your license as requested you tell him you have a firearm and now you're dead. One mistake and your life is over. Constant posts about the all too controlling government and totalitarian communism crap and here is a man who was shot and killed complying with the officers request and "he brought it upon himself"
If you think race had nothing to do with it you're just as blind and stupid as all the snowflakes.
You think EVERY American should be able to carry this is a taste of what can happen. Wild west out there for cops when everyone has a gun and every traffic stop could be your last
Quote from the officer:"I thought, I was gonna die and I thought if he’s, if he has the, the guts and the audacity to smoke marijuana in front of the five year old girl and risk her lungs and risk her life by giving her secondhand smoke and the front seat passenger doing the same thing then what, what care does he give about me?”
He was so concerned about her secondhand exposure to marijuana that he discharged a firearm into the vehicle she was in.
How often do you see someone with a concealed carry permit use it to shoot a cop, especially after they tell the cop that they do in fact have the gun?
Other cop handled the situation correctly. Shooter cop couldn't handle his adrenaline dump and a man died because of it
Exactly, cops gonna spin the story. Same people on here complaining about having to stop for a DUO checkpoint are now cop lovers
9:46, I carry mine inside the waistband right side about 6 inches from my wallet. Reaching for either hides my right hand from the officer.
If I am carrying, and state so, the LAST thing I'm going to do is reach back there. I will state the situation, and ask the officer how he wishes me to proceed. If he wants me to reach back there, I will let him know that's where I'm carrying and again ask him for a different method to get my wallet. Asking to get out and stand up and allow the officer a better view of the wallet draw or allowing the officer to secure the gun first would be my request.
Fill out your 1-d-10T form and turn it in ASAP.
Listen to officer close to the end " I don't want to hurt my job" He just murdered this guy in front of his girlfriend and kid and this is what he was worried about

AMEN! F... the Snow Flake Cop Haters.
Not seeing the hole video its hard to tell how everything went down. I will say if I was the man in the car with with the firearm my hands would have remained on the steering wheel the hole time until the officer informed me how he wants to handle the situation.
4;24 Did you watch the part when he asked for his license and insurance? Now count from that point on and see how long it took officer to shoot SEVEN times while being told I am not reaching
3:23 I know it's hard but try to be a grown up. That's why there are some officers like yourself and the one who shot and killed Castille who should never put the badge on because you have never grown up.
Polite, non combative, followed orders and still was murdered. Lesson for everyone shoot first ask questions last just like the officer you can claim you feared for your life. Don't get carried by 6 get judged by 12. Shoot first.
This is a terrible tragedy for all concerned. However, I don't fault him for telling the officer he had a gun. I think he was just trying to do the right thing. Perhaps in such a case, the best thing to do would be to tell the officer you have a gun and where it is and ask the officer to remove the gun, rather than you trying to do so yourself. I realize police officers take a great risk everyday they go to work but I do think sometimes they may shoot too soon. There is a fine line there and a judgment that has to be made that is not always easy to make.
i will say there are to many frightened little boys who wear badges and carry guns. If you can't handle the fear and are so freaking scared while doing your job then you need to find a different job!
Jump the gun like obama did for 8 yrs.
941
Are you obama edumacated ? ..."He known he messed up ".
No im bush raised anonymous "edumcated".
I agree with the poster who said, how can a cop say this black man had no care for his kind in the back seat for supposedly smoking weed, yet he fired into the car in the same direction as the kid he speaks of??? This shows you cops don't give a shit about you, and someone pleas tell me what LAW SAYS A COP GOING HOME AT NIGHT is more important than anyone else life?????? When you can do that, which I know you can't, I will give you my years salary....
Exactly. The cop if concerned should have said, "sir where is the gun?" Then told him to keep his hands on the stirring wheel and asked the other cop to assist him in helping to retrieve the gun & info if he felt truly threatened.
Good point
The cop was in the wrong all the way, the guy said he wasn't going to pull it out and went to get his ID and info the cop asked for... Furthermore, the cop already knew he had a gun becasue when you run the plates it will come up, also, the top middle third break light is not a must work light and is not subject to being pulled over as much as you all would like it to be or think it is... There is no law saying it has to be operational.. The law only says the back 2, right and left have to work...
IF this guy is a bank robber, then he has more than enough PC to pull this man over, for the fact the did so using the top third break light, shows he knew this was not the guy...
8:29 docking 1 point for n on known? Apparently you lack education if you got this far before finding grammatical errors? Get some rest troll.
8:02 He was not reaching for his gun. The gun was found on his right side not the left where the officer alleged he was reaching. Thank God the other cop was a professional and didn't start firing into the car and hit the other two. The officer who fired Seven shots into a car with a little girl in back seat should have never been on the force especially being a scared little girl himself
Your a unstable person that only can see things through hate. You hate le you hate government but vote democrat. I don't think your well I ask you to go to a dr. I wish you the best. Thanks.
FYI: In MD, all three brake lights must work or you can be stopped. Look it up.
FYI.. In MN, all three brake lights must work. Look it up.
Legal stop 8:43. See 11:59.
Someday soon, there will be a war on snowflakes. You snowflakes better watch out. Us tough guys in internet land are going to be out stomping snowflakes. We will finally rid this country of all the snowflakes and there will only be the super smart non snowflakes left. It's going to be a great day when all the snowflakes are gone. So watch out snowflakes.
If I was the cop and the driver told me "I have a gun" I would of asked him to keep his hands on the steering wheel and ask him where is the gun. Next I would have removed the gun before asking for a license. The cop should not ask him to retrieve a license first in this situation. I would of found this cop guilty of 2nd murder. 7;07 & 7:39(same person) you are a dumb a$$. If you carry, it is recommended to inform the officer that you have a carry permit and that you are carrying.
11:27 if you think 7:07 and 7:39 are the same person then you must be the DuAs since they expressed opposing viewpoints and the recommendation to inform the officer that you are carrying comes from police officers not their victims.
You're the ahole. Guy has his girlfriend and child in the car and tells the cop he has a gun so that the cop doesn't see it and freak out. He was licensed to carry it. What else was he supposed to do or say?! Philando did everything right... and he still got shot. This isn't new, it's much older than even the Rodney King beating.
I know the vast majority of cops are good. They need to start speaking up and cleaning out guys like this who never should have been cops. Tolerating officers like this leads to the resentment you see in the streets and makes all officers less safe.
BLM is led by people with ulterior motives, and will not serve the interests of the Black community, but for the kid on the street who goes out and joins a march, I know exactly why they are there and applaud the self restraint that they have shown. It means nothing to burn down a building in a community that you have been given no stake in.
