Plastic container taken off Md. deer nicknamed ‘Jughead’

WASHINGTON — A deer that had gotten its head stuck in a snack container for over a week around Bel Air, Maryland, has finally been freed Sunday night by members of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

Paul Peditto, the director of the DNR Wildlife and Heritage Service, tweeted photos and video of the rescue mission, showing the deer as it was tranquilized during the plastic jug removal process.

After residents spotted the deer over a week ago with the oversized, clear plastic snack container on its head, they took to social media to garner attention for the trapped animal.

It was upsetting to see the deer unable to free itself of the container, said Chris Beauchamp, a resident of the Glenwood Country Club Park neighborhood.

“It can’t eat, it can’t drink, and now going over a week since he was first spotted — and who knows how long before that — he’s been without food and water,” Beauchamp told WTOP.'

why did it take them a week?
after a couple of days they should have attended to it and DNR finds this worth gloating about?

I knowingly let an animal almost die of thirst and starvation before I bothered to help it?

If people would stop littering the landscape with their garbage we might not have things like this happen.

I agree with 7:51 this should be an example to those that throw trash out their windows on the highway and rural areas, same is true with the plastic that hold 6 packs of drinks have killed many of Gods creatures.
