No Scientific Evidence That People Are Born Gay or Transgender, Johns Hopkins Researchers Say

Distinguished scholars at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland released a new 143-page report on Monday that argues that there is not enough definitive scientific evidence available to suggest that gay, lesbian and transgender individuals are born with a certain sexual orientation or gender identity.

In the three-part report published by The New Atlantis, Lawrence Mayer, a scholar-in-residence at Johns Hopkins University's psychiatry department and a professor of statistics and biostatistics at Arizona State University, and Paul McHugh, a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Johns Hopkins, take on prevailing claims that sexual orientation and gender dysphoria are caused by natural traits.

Additionally, the scholars challenge the claim that discrimination and social stigma is the sole reason why those with same-sex attractions or transgender identity suffer higher rates of mental health problems.

All that there is, evidently, is anecdotal evidence, which amounts to claims based on no science.

It is against God and is a perversion. Plain and simple stop pandering to sexuality. Gay is a choice they should get no special provisions or political favors.

Everything you said is wrong, except for may be the part that your deity thinks gays are icky. Ironically though, there are some Christians and churches thereof that would disagree with you.. but as I understand from reading your holy texts indeed, your deity finds them icky.

However, your simple assertion of perversion is incorrect, and I reject it, unless you can substantiate to the contrary. An appeal to a deity does not make it so, and society as a whole bears no responsibility to accept your religious view. If your religious view says don't be gay, then YOU get to not be gay, you don't get to assert your brand of religion on the masses. So, please to substantiate why you point and shame with "perversion".

Please explain how being gay is a choice. Did you "choose" to not be gay? Why would someone "choose" to be ostracized, marginalized, ridiculed, and discriminated against. Why would someone choose that?

Lets make it easy. Liver and onions. Can you choose to like or not like liver and onions? You either like eating it, or you don't. Same with sexual orientation.

And I reject everything you have to say. You can continue with your thoughts because that may make you feel happy. Truth is homosexuality will NEVER be the norm, and the majority of people believe that.

It was never stated that homosexuality is the norm. In fact, only a very small percentage of our species is gay, as found in nature in other species... so it certainly would not be "the norm".

However, the reply was a direct refutation of the assertions that 1) it is perversion and 2) there is choice involved.

I addressed both of these issues, though you provided nothing of substance. I am very open to hearing any coherent arguments you have on the topic. If you believe it is a choice, and it is perversion, you bear the burden of proving it. Thus far, no one has, there fore the claims may be rejected. I gave good reasons to reject them..

You, however, provided no such substantiation. Please to do so.
