"The results show that these eagles did not die of natural causes, including disease," U.S. Fish and Wildlife public affairs specialist Catherine J. Hibbard told ABC News today in a statement.
The necropsy ruled out diseases such as avian influenza as a cause of the mass death, Hibbard said.
"Our investigation is now focused on human causes and bringing to justice the person(s) responsible for the death of these eagles," she said. "We cannot release further details about the cause of death as such information may compromise the ongoing investigation."

I hope they find the person/persons and subject them to the same fate, eye for an eye, and who cares about the lame statement, it makes us all blind.
if they find out who did this, i would make them eat whatever it is they were poisoned with, or if they were shot, do the same to the perpetrator.
In my mind ............ this is terrorism.
This bird represents our country.
Anyone who would do this is no better than a terrorist.
Not only is the horrible for the bird that represents our country but for any living creature. I pray that they get their due justice and more.
Pointless slaughter of a creature that is no threat to anyone or anything, unless you're in its food chain, and you're not.
Hold the perpetrators to responsibility and go for the highest penalties.
