Bartenfelder announced Thursday that high path avian affluenza, also known as bird flu, could be devastating to the poultry industry.
The Department says bird flu is a viral disease that is spread through the feces of wild migratory birds. It is not a human health issue.

Well, it worked the last time, as eggs are STILL $3 a dozen instead of two. I expect it's because no other chickens have been born since then to replace the laying hens who died. And when this new rush of avian flue rushes through, it will only hit the broiler farms, sending broiler prices up to $4-$5 a pound!
Funny how the disease is in and spread by migratory wild birds, yet there are no dead migratory birds ever found.

245, the eggs are vaccinated, not the birds. It uses less vaccine that way.
Just remember, if you have to kill these chickens due to illness, kill them nicely. (This said, dripping in sarcasm in reference to Perdue and Salisbury's newest nemesis.)
