Jurors in the trial of Officer William Porter looked at the van Freddie Gray was transported in the day he was arrested.
The 26-year-old officer is the first of six police officers to stand Gray's April death, one week after his arrest in West Baltimore.
His death sparked a week of riots, looting and unrest in the city.
Porter is charged with second degree assault, involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment and misconduct.
The van itself was not entered into evidence, so it was not available for the media or general public to look inside after it was towed into a garage at the Mitchell Courthouse.

Maybe if the thug mom was a better parent none of this would have happened?.
This article mentions Brandon Ross testifying. He and another guy were with Freddie that morning. Ross was the one who filmed the infamous video. What isn't mentioned in this article is that Ross testified that he, Freddie and the other guy were out that morning because.............................. they were going to go see some man about a carpentry job!
I'm not kidding.
They got to see the van that he jumped around in and banged his head deliberately in.
Kind of prejudicial, seeing his mother in tears, isn't it?
Nice try thinking jury would be influenced by mommy's tears. Sleazy staff of state's attorney's lawyers told her to cry after not liking the jury makeup and getting worried? Most think it was staged for this very reason.
Thought he was injured or just had surgery? Sounds like a carpentry job was just what he was looking for.
he is a serious loss to society
2:47 what planet are you from? The guy was a POS!
Don't even know why they are wasting time for trials. The family already got a pay day of tax payers dollars. The mother should be wiping her tears with 100 dollar bills if they haven't blown it all already. Hope the guy is found not guilty so the mayor will give her permission to destroy the city again.
