Rails to Trails @ Tuesday County Council Meeting

There will be a public hearing for a study for a Rails to Trails from Salisbury to Mardela at the Wicomico County Council meeting this Tuesday, August 18 at 10:30 am. It is included in a public hearing for a Maryland Department of Transportation letter on a consolidated transportation program. Some opposition is expected from some adjacent landowners.

If we want this to proceed to the first step it will be important to have folks there to speak in favor. Even just your presence would be important if you can make it and bring others.

This is a great first step for Wicomico County to make for family friendly off-road biking. It would provide a safe trail for families with children who need this to introduce cycling to small children and for seniors who do not feel safe on narrow county roads. It would begin to bring Wicomico County into another phase of safe cycling that is proving popular across the country.

Please feel free to share this with cycling friends and supporters. We need to demonstrate a strong demand for this if it is to become reality. Sorry for the late alert. We just learned of this.

Emails to the Council President, John Cannon, and Vice President Matt Holloway will also help if you cannot be present:

Sadly, it won't get this men in tights off the roads on their $1,000 traffic blockers.

Yepper. Bike lanes are choked with cyclists; need more places to ride. Not!

Hope they don't forget, the rail is still there, and is sold by the section, nut and bolt, and joint. Good Luck
Thanks

Um... John Cannon and Matt Holloway are only 2 votes and 2 weak votes at that.

I am very concerned about the adjacent land owners.
