SBY Pinocchio Award

A Pocomoke Pinocchio

Upon listening to one go on and on when a simple “yes” or “no” would suffice; one often thinks of the phrase, “Thou dost protest too much”. Such was the case last night at the Pocomoke City Council meeting when Council member Diane Downing emphatically denied being associated with any decision to terminate the former Chief of Police. She went so far as to interrupt another who held the floor and then even denied knowing any of the many reasons why the Mayor and Council took these actions.

Perhaps it was a brain cramp…or selective amnesia…but with all due respect madam, “Where were you when the meeting was conducted and you voted ‘no’?” While all other council members listened and reviewed the situation, were you out to lunch? Daydreaming? Texting the chief?

No sir! Miss Diane had no problem distancing herself from her colleagues, while feigning contempt, all along knowing the multitude of problems associated with the former chief. To say you “disagree” with an action taken can always be respected, but to lie against the truth and deny any knowledge is reprehensible…even if you are playing to your church Sunday school crowd. The city and your district deserve better from you…even if you did not like the outcome.

For that, Ms. Downing earns herself 5 Pinocchio’s from the staff here at SBY News.

Note to the former chief: Instead of hiding behind your seemingly false charge of racism, how about you and your attorney provide a release to the city so the Mayor and Council could release any and all information concerning your termination? Perhaps we would all see how much nonsense and corruption actually lurks in the wake you left in the city...especially since you say there is “nothing there” and you “have no idea” why you were fired. Really chief? Really?

Sewell said he had "no idea" why he was fired? When?
If it happened last night then ya'll need to be checking that water out down there in Pocomoke. It's causing quite a few cases of forgetfulness.
Last week it was because he refused to fire 2 officers and just so we were all more informed as to the situation, he included that they happened to be black.

The "Note to the former chief" is right on the mark.
It's a lawyers dream-because it is so rare to nonexistent- to have a client that has truly been railroaded in a civil matter or is completely innocent of a criminal charge.
When this is the case the attorney wants it all out in the public domain pre suit or trial BECAUSE it is a way for them to take control of any pending court action or cases.
We saw this with Jose Biaz, Casey Anthony attorney
and
Mark O'Mara, George Zimmerman attorney.

So, the DOJ is coming to Pocomoke because of misappropriation of funds for not hiring a police officer with grant money that was intended for just that. Coupled with the huge drug sting in Pocomoke that Worcester County Drug Task Force just wrapped up (which was 4 months long). And you morons still have no idea why he was fired? Hello, GROSS INCOMPETENCE?!

Ms.Downing may be a victim of the stupid bug.The former fired Clown may have given her an injection of his Clown juice. If the juice theory is true the the Clown and the Gold Tooth Bandit have just used women in that town.Ms.Downing seems too have no problem making herself look like a liar in public.

The guy was/is a crook. Funny how they didn't mention the letter of no confidence that was signed by every officer except for his Baltimore goon squad members he brought with him. Hard to say it's racism when even the black officers wanted him gone.

What was Diane Downing asked that only required a yes or no answer?
Was she asked if the reason Sewell was fired was because of his refusal to fire the 2 officers?
This would seem to be the only reason why she would be claiming to not remember.
For whatever reason she didn't want it known to the public that Sewell wasn't being truthful when he stated publicly that he was fired because he wouldn't fire 2 black officers.

I think the mayor and council sould hold a special meeting so they can approve the minutes of this meeting and get them online as quickly as possible.

Hmmm well lets get back to the beginning the ex chief told someone he was being terminated because a criminal lied on him and said she was working on the side for him as his grant writer...Then it went to because the good ole boys (Worcester Sheriff) wanted him out, then because he wouldn't fire 2 black officers, to now the one he is sticking with is because of his race.
