Paramedics earn their pay, firefighters don't compare. Anyone can be a firefighter, but not everyone can be a paramedic. Don't compare.
Those minimum wage workers need to go to school and learn a trade if they are not happy digging ditches or flipping burgers.
Meanwhile their uniforms are made by prisoners for .15 per hour. Lazy and self centered. Hope they get the raise and Wawa style computers get 1/2 of them laid off. Go long enough without a job and they might end up making uniforms one day.
$15 an hour might be enough to raise their income high enough that they no longer qualify for food stamps, free day care, and other benefits. No American should "qualify" for taxpayer funded benefits if they work 40 hours a week; the "fruits of their labor" should be their self sufficiency.
Paramedics and other professionals are proportionately underpaid...and that too, is shameful.
People have to struggle! If everything is given to them, then we lose their earning and desire to want more. I worked at McDonald's at 16 years old. Happy, very ecstatic just to have a job. It was then that I made a decision that I wanted more and I was going to set my goals on college and more with my life.
If people want better pay, etc.... You work for it. It's not given to you!

Entry level jobs are just that; entry level. These jobs are starting points to learn and advance your skills. They were NEVER designed to be career choices. Who grows up saying I want to flip burgers, sell fries as my career. These workers don't have the education or apptitude to pursue higher paying jobs, because they don't have the skills to do so.
