William Mayer was my uncle Bill, my loving Godfather. Though I was a young child when he was killed, my favorite memories include those of him sharing his love and enthusiasm for life with me. He was compassionate, thoughtful and always helping others before being asked. This memorial truly blesses those of us left to live without him. After all these years he is as freshly missed as back then....heroes live on as inspiration and a reminder to us all of the personal sacrifices made by them for all of us.
