Ladies & Gentlemen, this press release has got to be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen.
It does NOT truly INFORM you of what to do.
First of all, you MUST contact your telephone company and demand SECURE LINES! Most people, (believe it or not) have NON SECURE phone lines.
Secondly, WHY would you WAIT until your phone bill comes in! By that time you'll have $10,000,000.00 worth of billing.
Seriously, call your phone company and make sure you have SECURED phone lines, BOTH residential and business.
The Salisbury Police Department should have provided this information in this release. In their favor, they may not have known this as a solution but it is what you need to do right away. ALL Business Owners, don't wait one minute to do this. Call the phone company NOW.
One other bit of information that should be shared is if this company was using VOIP phones or Standard phones. VOIP phones use the internet and could more easily be hacked.
If you have a phone from Comcast and someone hacks your Comcast account information they can then do all kinds of things with your phone such as setup call forwarding, Erase Voice mail or change voice mail messages. There is certainly a lot more they can do to your phone system than if you had a standard land line.
Verizon sucks.
Short and to the point:
DO NOT call and demand "secured" lines. You're wasting everybody's time. There is no such designation for regular phone service.
12:18 is absolutely correct.
A traditional landline is the most secure plain old telephone service available.
This incident happened on a multi-line office phone system, like a centrex or key system, and was almost immediately caught by both Verizon and AT&T, who promptly informed the customer.
To summarize: DO NOT call to demand a "secured phone line".
For that matter, don't call anyplace "demanding" anything. It tends to be counter-productive.
So, I shouldn't call Mathias demanding he reverse his decision on an elected BOE?
