This Database Tells You How Much Hospital Procedures Cost In Maryland

A new interactive database created by the Maryland Health Care Commission lets consumers learn more than they will probably ever want to know about how much specific medical procedures cost, which hospitals have the worst infection rates and how many knee joints hospitals replace in a year (it's 12,661).

The new Maryland Health Care Quality Reports website brings together consumer guides for hospitals, long-term care and ambulatory surgery centers. An interactive tool lets users search the 25 most common medical procedures and compare how much each costs, on average, at different hospitals. Reports on hospitals' consumer ratings, quality and safety results are also available. Users can create custom comparison reports with the data.

In short, it's a useful new tool for people who want to do their research before heading to surgery and a goldmine for anyone who likes to geek out on data.

something we definitely need for prmc. that place is the pits. I don't know where they get their doctors and staff from, SU? WOR WIC?

They need to spend some money on more qualified doctors and staff instead of buildings and properties.
