The True Reason Gas Prices are Falling (Hint: It’s Not Because of Green Energy)

American workers and motorists got some badly-needed relief this week when the price of oil plunged to its lowest level in years. The oil price has fallen by about 20 to 25 percent since its peak back in June of $105 a barrel. This is translating to lower prices at the pump with many states now below $3 a gallon.

Already the lower oil and gas prices are the equivalent of a $70 to 200 billion cost saving to American consumers and businesses. That’s $70 to 200 billion a year we don’t have to send to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other foreign nations. Now that’s an economic stimulus par excellence.

There are many global reasons why gas prices are falling, but the major one isn’t being widely reported. America has become in the last several years an energy-producing powerhouse. And sorry, Mr. President, I’m not talking about the niche “green energy” sources you are so weirdly fixated with.

Obama's fault when they go up, but not his fault when they go down? Open your eyes idiots.

Why do I still feel broke?

we need to make it a crime to export any oil out of here. We send more overseas then we use and we import the rest.

Good idea! How's your job as an unemployed economist working out? Moron. If you are going to bring something to these comments, you should at least understand how global markets, deflation, and supply & demand work!

The real reason for the drop in gas prices is the election coming up. Prices always drop in the month before the election.

I think that is the truest statement so far.

Who do you think controls pricing of ALL petroleum products? The new U.S. oil producers? They're as greedy as the rest of the world selling oil i.e. all that the $$$ market will bare. OPEC actually Saudi Arabia dictated the lowering of oil per barrel, not any major oil company currently sucking the oil/blood out of our country. Major oil companies are ALL crooks. Why did Saudi Arabia do it? Simple, the U.S. elections are coming and they want another Obama and clan to finish of this country, further promote Islam, screw us into the ground. New Democratic Slogan, Oil Prices Forced Down by your Friendly Democrat. Haven't you got a belly full of mainstream media lies yet? Like most things in life common sense applied to world known facts equal truth. If I'm wrong why didn't they lower the price we pay before Saudi Arabia made its move? They've had years to do it, but they kept it at the top because they could. Gullible people swallow lies, a little common sense goes along ways in life.

I agree with the election crowd.I've taken some cross country car trips in the past couple of years and noticed our oil wells that have been shut down for 50 years are now pumping. They were pumping 2 years ago as well, and prices didn't seem to go down.

So, there is a different reason, and in the cause of promoting the NWO, I'm with the election crowd.

Please vote Republican this time, and ignore the smoke and mirrors.

I'm Anonymous October 27, 2014 at 6:24 PM and my vote this year, as well my parents (we've discussed this several times) is a straight Republican ticket, even if we have Democrats we know and like, we're NOT voting for them. Republicans are a millionaires/money monger/oil/energy baron's best friend, not mine, but a Democrat is giving away everything he can including future money of children yet born and that's just to much. None of which is or ever was, his to give. It's the lesser of two evils. We, the everyday Joe and Mary, lose either way. It's no wonder political apathy and desperation set in to those with a little common sense. A great big ball of crooked snakes constantly driving/rolling over our country as fast as they can. When politicians made enough laws to close down the plants where people had jobs, taxed everyone for everything they could dream up, over regulated business environments, outsourced our jobs, imported foreign inferior goods, then you know that collectively politicians are working for the other guy, NOT American men and women. They are traitors to long held American values, decent jobs, a reasonable expectation of prosperity, period. The majority of politicians are simply about self gain, not serving those who've endorsed/elected them to office.
