"with a tax loss to the State of Maryland of $10,260.00."
False statement. The driver had a New York license. More than likely he was going to sell the smokes in NY so the tax loss would have been in NY.
10:48
I never understood that either. Unless they can prove they were going to be sold in this state how can they charge him with that.
10:48 and 11:11 the same applies for drug interdiction. Most often the vehicles stopped on the bypass were heading somewhere other than here. The arrest can actually cost the taxpayers more in the long run.
cause Maryland will use any excuse to generate money.

I'm not sure they really generate any money. They create LE task forces for this and that, so that creates more government jobs which most likely costs more money than any generated from the arrests.
5:10 AM, said it all!!
They should bill him for the MD tax then send him on his way. Call the Delaware State Police with his tag # and description. They can pull him over and bill him for the Delaware taxes then do the same for New Jersey who can inform New York. That will surely slim his profit margin
8:20 The only problem with that is some day they will stop you coming from Delaware and charge you sales tax for your purchases in Delaware. Notice he used a California tagged car probably a rental so he could avoid the asset forfeiture confiscation.
You mess with the amount of waste in their trough, they will hammer you.
