SALISBURY, Md. (AP) — The Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore says more people are using public transportation in the region.

The council’s Shore Transit Division announced it saw a 6.8 percent increase over fiscal year 2013 in residents using its transportation services. For fiscal year 2014, the division says 453,111 passengers used its fleet of 42 buses, four vans and two cars as a means of public transportation. That’s an increase of almost 20,000 passengers.

Shore Transit bus passes cost more than OC. THEY ALSO PAY THEIR DRIVERS MORE.

Shore Transit just like all municipal transit systems, is highly subsidized by the government because they it is not profitable. Therefore even if you pay a fare your taxes are paying as well. And 1235 is correct there are discount passes that people can qualify for.. also paid for by the government. I am not saying it isn't a good investment because I think can be. It is just important for people to know that nothing is free.
