U.S. Marshal Fatally Shoots Defendant In Utah Courtroom

An alleged gang member appearing in court in Utah was shot dead by a U.S. marshal on Monday after he reportedly lunged at a witness.

Deseret News says 25-year-old Siale Angilau, aka "C-Down," was on trial in federal court in Salt Lake City when the fatal shooting took place.

"During the trial this morning, the defendant went after, engaged the witness stand, and when he engaged the witness at the witness stand, he was shot by the U.S. Marshals Service," Mark Dressen, the FBI's assistant special agent-in-charge for the Utah bureau, was quoted by the newspaper as saying.

"From what I understand, the defendant may have grabbed a pen or a pencil and charged the witness stand at that time," he said.

I think this US marshal should get a raise.

Another Democratic voter off the books. No, wait, he's dead but he can still vote, but only for a democrat.

4:13 based on the amount of money he just saved the taxpayers...between the lawsuit and the life in prison (which no doubt he would eventually earn)!

4:12-And that one more is off the treadmill.

4:05 thru 4:44 seems to be the same person.
If you were a gun owner you would know that shooting at this person in a room full of people, and more than likely surrounded in almost every direction is extremely dangerous for ANYONE.

The witness was fine even if the defendant did have a pen. This is real life and not a movie. Try jamming a pen into a side of beef. Now try doing that with a prison jumpsuit over it. The guy was not in life threatening danger. Again we are not living in a movie.

Guns are for defense of your life. Not for breaking up a fight.

See? Down!

Great name!

Does the jury get paid for the whole day, though? I'm concerned for their welfare.

A pen through the eyeball would do the trick though

@5:53 This defendant was already a murderer! He had already killed a US Marshal! How do you know how stable he was or what he would do with a pen? Guess what you can also jab someones eyeball with your fingers! That Marshal was properly trained, and fulfilled his job duties! Kudo's to the Marshal! He AIMED and FIRED hitting his target and NOTHING ELSE!!!!!
