If anyone wanted to pick a time and place where the political left’s avowed concern for minorities was definitively exposed as a fraud, it would be now — and the place would be New York City, where far left Mayor Bill de Blasio has launched an attack on charter schools, cutting their funding, among other things.
These schools have given thousands of low income minority children their only shot at a decent education, which often means their only shot at a decent life. Last year 82 percent of the students at a charter school called Success Academy passed city-wide mathematics exams, compared to 30 percent of the students in the city as a whole.

I know for a fact that blacks do get a lower education and they are just moved on through the system in public schools.
When my child was in the second grade the principal called and said Mr. X do you mind if your child is moved to another class because there aren't enough white X's(not giving the gender identity.) in the class room. That child did not qualify for the magnet program for the third grade and I know for a fact it was because of the make up of the class he was in. When he went to another school for third grade he out paced the kids so fast that the principal called me to ask if he could be put in the Magnet program. By Christmas he was in the full magnet program.
I as a knowledgeable parent can tell you for a fact that school programs are watered down for black kids. This is not a racist statement this is a fact.
In Wicomico County the Board of Education is trying their best to do away with the Magnet Program and they have even watered it down. Their goal is to "put Magnet in all schools." That is bull crap you can not have them in all schools, they have to be separate and away from most home school kids. This is a ploy to make the higher achiever students do the work for and bring up the grades of the majority black kids which are lower achievers and don't want to be there. This is a fact and the Magnet parents know this. Spreading the Magnet Program to all the home schools as the BOE suggests is only to bring up the failing scores of all the schools on the backs of the kids who need to be challenged. When you here people like Governor O'Malley, Jim Ireton and Chuck Cook saying that Maryland has the best schools in the nation just remember that it is just that a statement. It is not the truth and the factors they use are not accurate. It is a feel good statement.
Don't you feel warm and fuzzy now.
The Magnet Program is for 3rd through 5th graders and it should be a program through out and up to the 12th grade.
