ANNAPOLIS — Six Republican lawmakers from Frederick County are united in their disapproval of the 15.7 percent pay increase set to kick in for Maryland legislators over the next four years.
Salaries for members of the Maryland General Assembly are on course to step up from their current level of $43,500 to $50,330 by 2018 unless legislators intervene. Sen. David Brinkley and five GOP delegates from Frederick County have signed on to a resolution blocking the raises, but with less than two weeks left in the legislative session, the measure has failed to gain momentum.
"We just don't think it needs to take place," Brinkley, R-District 4, said of the raises. "Among part-time legislators, Maryland is near the top."

Most of the House Republicans are Co-Sponsors of this Resolution. We are currently trying to get it out of the Rules Committee for an Up or Down Vote in the House.

The country is divided between the "haves" and the "have nots". The hard working people who try to make ends meet do not look kindly upon our elected officials increasing their salaries during the critical times we are in. Once some of our official's assume office, they forget their roots. It's bad to be forgotten folks.
