CHICAGO (AP) - A suburban Chicago police officer has been released from hospital after being dragged by a car driven by fleeing Thanksgiving Day shoplifting suspects, one of which was charged with attempted murder Friday.
Another police officer fired at the 52-year-old driver, who remained hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his arm following the Thursday night incident at a Kohl's department store in Romeoville, the Romeoville Police Department said in a statement. The suburb is about 30 miles southwest of Chicago.

This officer seriously needs inservice if he remains on the force.Never over extend your arm when reaching in a suspects vehicle.Better yet, never reach in a suspects vehicle period, especially for something like shoplifting.Over the last few years there have been way too many police related dragging incidents. He's lucky to be alive.
