Board members question use of money for Towson expansion
An O'Malley administration plan to lend $240,000 to a Towson sports bar to finance its expansion is raising questions about the role of government in promoting economic development.
This week, the Board of Public Works opted to delay deciding whether to approve the loan to the Greene Turtle in Towson, whose franchise owners want to double its size to meet an anticipated increase in competition from nearby projects.
State and local development officials called the loan necessary to keep downtown Towson vibrant, especially at a time when private financing is difficult to secure. They said the loan is similar to support the state has provided to small businesses in other commercial centers.

If they want to keep downtown vibrant then they should pass on the Turtle, no one likes overpriced soggy wings.
You have got to be kidding--the taxpayer is expected to bail out a private business whose owners live in waterfront mansions? WTF????
"The policy of the American government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining nor aiding them in their pursuits." Thomas Jefferson
If Jefferson were president now OweMalley would be in prison awaiting trail for treason.
See when you donate to the people in power,it's the only way to get ahead nowdays.
The years on the golf course with assorted politicians have finally paid off for Pappas and Dickerson. They are now officially part of the ruling class! And even better, politicians can keep going to the turtle for those happy hours deal every hour! A better way to use all of the Gov cash, a loan that can be "forgiven?", pay all of the police departments who are called to get rid of the drunks who leave the turtle! What that, the turtle are exempt from any police visits, because they have no abuse of drinking, (exempt for lacrosse players). Thanks Rick, Thanks Martin, Thanks Jim.....
