Tom Carper Signs On As 51st ENDA Cosponsor

The Employment Non-Discrimination Act now has majority support in the Senate.

On Monday, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) signed on as the bill's 51st cosponsor. The legislation would outlaw workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

"Senator Carper believes it is important for federal law to explicitly prohibit workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation -- in the same way that current law addresses race, sex or religion -- in order to ensure that all Americans are protected equally under the law," said Carper spokesman Ian Sams.

When asked why Carper decided to sign on now, Sams added, "There's nothing significant about the timing of his cosponsorship since he's cosponsored the bill before, but he's pleased to be the 51st senator to sign on in this Congress, as it means a majority of senators stand ready to pass this important legislation."

Is this really about discrimination? I mean, being gay isn't all that controversial these days. Just do your job. Seems to me that's exactly what most gays do; show up and do their job. This comes off more to me as an attempt to force folks to accept crossdressing. In that case, dude, no you will NOT be greeting my customers in drag.

I agree with you 7:42 If you are a woman come to work dressed a woman if your a man come to work dressed as a man. Cross dressers are nothing more than attention seekers. You were born a man act like one. You were born a woman act like one also. Cross dressers and homosexuals are just confused individuals in general! There sick and perverted ways are not healthy.Man and woman are just natural how do you think we get kids.If all the world turned into homosexuals mankind would die off. You don't see ever see animals chasing after the same sex. Bottom line homosexuality is not human nature!!
