Support Growing For Wayne County Man Who Detained Young Vandals

Clyde, N.Y.- As public support for Jesse Daniels grows and people express outrage, The Wayne County District Attorney now says "the case is under review."

Daniels said he has no regrets, but would like to see the charges against him dropped or at the very least reduced.

This week, Daniels obtained a lawyer to defend him at his court appearance next week.

He is charged with four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

This, after he admitted to locking four children, ages 8 and 10 in a closet, after catching them vandalizing his father-in-laws house.

Where were their parents? They were 8 and 10 years old. If you leave children that young home alone it is a crime. It seems if you are home and they are off getting into trouble that would be ok. If they would have fell trying to run out and away from the house they would have sued this guy. I say lock up the parents and make them pay all the damages and have those 4 kids paint that entire inside of that house.

Thanks 11:11. Seems Maryland is one of the few states that put an age on when a child can be left alone. I looked up NY state and they have no age but it said the parents can be held liable if something happens while they are alone. I wonder if that would apply to this even if they were not actually at home. This seems to have happened at night so you have to wonder where they were and why they were left unattended.

Looks like he was protecting these kids from hurting themselves. Their parents should be charges with Endangering the welfare of minors.

This is nothing new. In 1973 I owned a small grocery store. Three kids - all about 16 - came in and began to destroy my shelves. I immediately called the police, and they bolted from the store and got into a car. I ran out and stood in front of the car so they couldn't pull out before the police came (about 2 minutes later). Who was charged? I was. The charge was False Imprisonment.
The charge was thrown out of court, but I was sued in civil court by the parents (one was a lawyer).
To defend the charge, the fee to my attorney would've been around $10,000. The other side offered to settle for $5000.
I paid the $5000, and got out of the business three months later.

Their parents should be arrested for the same charges, and the children should be removed from their care. Incompetent people.
