Gasoline prices are heading in different directions in Maryland and Virginia.
AAA Mid Atlantic says blame it on new motor fuel tax laws that go into effect in two weeks in both states. Starting July 1, the cost of gasoline here in Maryland will likely increase by over three and a half cents a gallon.
In an historic fuel tax policy transformation, Virginia's pump prices will likely drop by nearly six cents per gallon that same day.

Thanx P.O.S Omalley.
I was shocked $3.06 a gallon in North and South Carolina on I-85. Cross into Virgina at $3.33.
Work and soon to live in va....so i already avoid giving md a dime of my money...md is doomed after the state omally left it.in
And in Maryland it's now at $3.45. Just wait until July 1st. It's going to be a lot of fun to see everyone going to Virginia and Delaware to buy fuel. Then O'Malley will not understand why gas revenues are down after a 4% increase in taxes.
It looks like Delaware may pass a nickel a gallon increase to its gas tax. Unfortunately Delaware is now run by Democrats so it is only a matter of time until the allure to move there will be gone. That's a real shame to turn Delaware into a mini MD.
Now I'll be buying cigarettes AND gas in VA.
11:38 - don't forget to get your booze there too!
