Seaford, DE- The Delaware State Police have arrested three people and are searching for another after a short pursuit ends in a crash.

The incident occurred around 8:20 a.m. Friday morning as a trooper on patrol in the area of Sussex Highway (US13) and Airport Road near Seaford, spotted a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo northbound on US13. The registration of the vehicle was partially obscured and as the trooper began following the car, it quickly turned onto Airport Road and into a private driveway. The trooper observed the vehicle for a moment as no occupants exited the vehicle and a short time later, watched as it departed the driveway and drive west on Airport Road. As the trooper got behind the Monte Carlo, it accelerated quickly and then crossed over US13 onto Onkels Road where it began passing cars on the left in a no passing zone. The trooper activated the emergency equipment on the patrol car in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop, but the weather and road conditions were not conducive to continuing the pursuit. The trooper attempted to follow the car through roads south of Blades, but lost sight of it in the area of Oneals Road.

Minutes later, Sussex Emergency Operations Center began receiving calls of a Monte Carlo that crashed into a tree in front of Pine Ridge Mobile Home Park off US13 and two black males and children were running from the scene. Upon arriving at the crash scene, the trooper was informed by witnesses that the subjects ran into a house located in the 27000 block of Pondside Drive. The trooper made contact with the residents at that house, identified as Yolanda R. Trammell and Annette D. Bivens, who initially denied anyone coming into the home, but later admitted Aubrey E. Baine was inside. Baine was taken into custody without further incident and transported back to Troop 5. While interviewing the females and children at the house, it was determined that the 8 year old female, who was a passenger in the car, was injured in the crash. EMS transported her to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The 6 year old and 1 year old females were not injured in the crash and were cleared by EMS at the scene.

Information was received through the investigation that Brooks J. Cornish was the driver of the Monte Carlo and had fled the scene shortly before troopers arrived. A search of the area was conducted and he was not located. A computer inquiry revealed he is wanted on three capiases out of Sussex County Courts. Warrants have also been obtained on Cornish for Disregarding a Police Officers Signal, three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Resisting Arrest, and Vehicular Assault 3rd.

Aubrey Baine was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Resisting Arrest, and Hindering Prosecution. He was arraigned at JP2 and committed to SCI on $1,500.00 secured bond. Yolanda Trammell and Annette Bivens were charged with Hindering Prosecution and released on $500.00 unsecured bond.
