An interesting question comes to mind with this release:

Where could they have "recently purchased" such weapons without "properly registering" them, or obtaining them without a "permit" ??

What part of "shall not be infringed" is in conflict with this?

And I thought he wasn't going to enforce gun grabbing laws. Sheriff talks out both sides of his mouth.

This is unfortunate. When I was their age law enforcement would'nt have batted an eye if we were target practicing, but we lived way out in the country. Now a handful of idiots who commit illegal acts with firearms have ruined it for the rest of us.I hope these 2 get off lightly, because most of us have target practiced & were'nt hauled off to jail for it.

Two more who will never be affected by any "gun laws". When they get out, they'll both get a couple more unregistered guns without a license, while you and I will be paying more...

After reading this, I think that whole thing Mike Lewis did at the Civic Center was just a big fake to get us on camera so they could use face recognitian software to ID us. They probably had license plate scanners in the parking lot too.

People should be outraged at this. Mike Lewis put all the bullsh!t Maryland-libtard-O'Malley gun laws on this Husband and Wife. Now I know Mike Lewis WILL take our guns.

i'm guessing there's more to this story?

No.Just 2 people with really bad timing and in an unauthorized area for target practice.Very poor discretion on their part.It all looks really bad,but it is'nt.

Since when do you need a carry permit or registration to go target shooting? Maybe they were judged by cop as bad actors?

10:32 Probably has it right.
The sheriff's dept. is a bunch of lying hypocrite's.
Never trust a cop.

Hello people our existing laws require registration. You can't just buy a couple guns on the block and not expect this.

But at the meeting, Mike McDermott said there is no gun registry in Maryland. Now I'm confused. I think Mike Lewis owes us an explanation.

In order to legally possess a handgun, one must be 21 or older. Then, you go online and take a lesson and quiz that is informative and fairly easy. This gets you a permit sent to you from the State police. Now, you can legally purchase a handgun by paying for it, filling out a form with the sales man, who then sends it in to the State Police along with a spent casing fired by the gun usually supplied by the gun manufacturer. The form is sent in for your background check with the serial number of the gun you want to get.
When and if you pass a background check, the copy of the form is sent to the store for their records, and THEN you can legally pick up the gun. Usually an ammo purchase is done on a separate trip.
That starts it, 101. After that, there are certain distances one must keep from an occupied structure and other safety rules to follow. I suggest you read up on them before you start firing away with a gun or a mouth.
BTW, I do not agree with the rules we have, and would like them to be eased, but until they are, I must obey them or go to jail. I personally do not like jail, but for some, it's a great place for 3 hots and a cot!
Again, a choice for you.

Wow, so much disinformation, even from 2A supporters.

Were any of you listening at the town hall meeting??

You're giving us all a bad name by NOT BEING INFORMED!!

It is your obligation to be familiar with every single law in regards to firearms and ammunition.

If you can't teach the facts, then you may as well vote for Ireton, Omalley and Obama.

What if it is a private sale and not from Gander/Dicks? Assuming that you are 21+. Are you saying that you must have a permit to own a handgun?

I will guess there is more to this. The only thing I see that could warrant arrest is "they had recently purchased" indicating a private sale in which the proper paperwork was not completed at the State Police Barrack. If they bought them in a private sale in another state like VA, a hand written bill of sale and transfer may have been all that was necessary. One does not have to have a carry permit to target practice, that is one of the exemptions written in Maryland's current law. I would guess the area they were in was one in which they should not be target practicing. Even still, unless they were felons in possession, at most seize he handguns until true ownership is established, and apply for a criminal summons or warrant if criminal charges are really necessary. Remember people this arrest was done under the existing laws, wait until October.

You're giving yourself a bad name. You complain about disinformation, but you don't identify it and offer correct information. Then you suggest if they? can't teach facts they should go vote for obammy and omalley. I sure hope you know what you're talking about since I doubt anyone else does.
