The Senate Budget and Taxation Committee voted 9-4 on Thursday for the bill, which already has passed the House of Delegates.
Maryland has not raised its 23.5-cents-per-gallon excise tax since 1992. The state is on track to run out of money for any new transportation projects after 2017.

Why raise the Gas Tax. It only gives the Politians more money to spend on their desires instead of cutting spending.
Has everyone forgot O'Malley robbed this fund to spend as he wanted in the General Fund.
This fund was for roads not whims of the Governor.

The state legislature raids the current gas tax that has been collected so it can't be spent on transportation issues like roads and bridges. Explain we have a shortfall to voters.
Start telling everyone that the tax hasn't gone up in twenty years but ignore the fact the state tax is already higher than surrounding states.
Raise the tax and hurt small business gas station owners by lowering their volume as people but fuel in neighboring states.
Raise no extra money for the state because the tax idea was so stupid.
Legislatures then think "we'll...we tried".
Public is screwed.

Folks, what we have there in Annapolis, is ONE SIDED DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED SENATE AND HOUSE. So, what do you expect from these 'crooked people's candidates'? Another Tax Increase? We have got 26 NEW TAX INCREASES AND FEES FROM OWEMALLEY ADMINISTRATION ALONE. And now they want to take guns from law abiding citizens. These politicians just don't care about working class citizens, it's all about the party agenda. Some came in to DO GOOD and ended DOING WELL, FOR THEMSELVES. TIME IS TICKING AND WE THE PEOPLE WILL THROW THESE BUMS OUT, SOON.

The Government "makes/steals" more money on a gallon of gas than EXXON does in profit!
