A look at some of the claims in his State of the Union speech, a glance at the Republican counterargument and how they fit with the facts:
OBAMA: "After years of grueling recession, our businesses have created over 6 million new jobs."
THE FACTS: That's in the ballpark, as far as it goes. But Obama starts his count not when he took office, but from the point in his first term when job losses were the highest. In doing so, he ignores the 5 million or so jobs that were lost on his watch, up to that point.

When he said that cars are getting double the gas mileage that they used to I almost fell out of the chair. We were shopping for vehicles a few years ago and were comparing the different ones. We had a 1990 vehicle that was getting better gas mileage than anything including the same make and model or any other vehicle that was available. I thought cars were getting better in gas mileage but it seems they are in fact NOT.
So if they created that many jobs why is there still so many people collecting welfare and assistance? Raising the minimum wage will do nothing but make small businesses have to lay off people or raise their prices. That means less people working and people still wont be able to afford things because the prices will be going up. They solved nothing but putting more people on unemployment and welfare.
If they raise the minimum wage that means more taxes for the government. Seems like a win win for the govt.
I simply couldn't stand to hear his speech and all his lies. It is just too heart-breaking.
