In the summer of 2011, when a debt crisis like the current one loomed, President Obama warned Republicans that older Americans might not get their Social Security checks unless there was a deal to raise the nation's borrowing limit.
After weeks of brinkmanship, Republicans consented and Obama agreed to a deficit-reduction plan the Republicans wanted. Crisis averted, for a time.
Now that there's a fresh showdown, the possibility of Social Security cuts --and more -- is back on the table.

Obama always threatens Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and payments to our enlisted and retired military people. He never once has said that Government dollars would no longer be available for welfare, food stamps, unemployment, section 8 housing, Planned Parenthood, ACORN and the free lunch program for mostly intercity schools. Oh, and what about foreign aid to countries that hate us! I agree that we must pay our bills and the spending was brought on by congress voting for this radical spending. But, to make this happen the President must sign the legislation coming out of Congress. So he blames Congress for over spending then he signs it into law. Give me a break!
You should have heard Mark Levine today talking about this idiot usurping the constitution. Why in the hell anyone voted for this nut is beyond me. They sure did not know what harm this jerk is causing our country. With 47% on the take is no doubt why he got a second term. At the end of the next four years maybe you will wake up!

You are absolutely correct! Why not tell the welfare and food stamp whores they might not get a support next month.
Or they could just not pay members of congress. Would Mr. President be open to not paying his secret service members?? Or how about taking a pay cut himself? No, his immediate response is to threaten those below him. Shame on you, Obama.
