What Marijuana Does To Your Body And Mind

With the recreational use of marijuana about to be legal in two states, Colorado and Washington, we thought now would be an important time to refresh ourselves about the effects that the drug has on our bodies and minds.
Marijuana comes from the cannais sativa plant, and is the dried and shredded leaves, stems seeds and flowers. The high you get from marijuana comes from a chemical called Tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC. Some strains contain more or less THC — making them more or less potent.
Most of THC's effects happen in the brain, where the chemical interacts with receptors on brain cells called cannibinoid receptors. Our bodies actually make chemicals very similar to THC, which are used in normal brain function and development. THC co-opts these natural pathways to produce most of its effects.

So does beer. So what is your point? So , by law I can buy beer ,take it home (no driving after having it home) And fall down stupid and it's ok. Sure it is. There is a tax on beer so that makes it ok. As soon as the Government figures a way to tax marijuana that will also be legal. It's just a matter of time. It will be legal because Obama smoked it, and surly there's nothing wrong with his thinking.

Anything that alters you mind and thinking process, slows reflexes can not be good for not only the person using but for society in general. I've done my fair share and still do drink on occasion so I speak completely from experience.
I'm not sure where I stand on this issue because I do believe as above mentioned there's a hypocrasy behind the whole thing when it's okay to legally sell, buy and consumer alcohol.

over 7 million people became ill from food in 2011, 7000 people died last year from eating food, food poisioning.

In 3000 years there is not one single documentaion that anyone has ever died from a marijuana overdose.

Sounds more like it's time to prohibit food. What a person eats has everything to do about one's health.

This is about our freedoms, or in this case, denial of freedom.

10:11 You are comparing onions to apples. You need food to exist. Pot you don't.
But since you did bring up the subject of food...there's alot to be said about it and for the most part what we think as food today is really nothing but a poison that is killing us, slowly but killing alot of people nonetheless.

We need twinkee's and 2 Big Mac's a day 10:18? Obesity from fast food is a much bigger health problem than marijuana.

Apples vs onions is BS, freedom is freedom.

Conservative LOVE small government, until they need BIG gov. to stop you from doing things they disapprove of (i.e. weed, gays getting married, gambling, etc.)

Whoever believes marijuana to slow down your motor functions is misinformed. I have found that I become more connected with my body movements and pay closer attention to my environment in detail. It slows your thought process. If you have problem doing something when your sober you will have even more trouble while under the influence. If your comfortable with that practice, it will come more naturally.

Legalize it but tax it to the point you wouldnt want to buy it.... 1000% tax or higher

Marijuana legalization = jobs and increased tax revenue, it's a no brainer to even the stoned.

I don't like the affects of alcohol, does that mean that alcohol should be banned?

I really try hard to see things from the other point of view, however, I just can't get my head that far up my rectum.
