Mayor Jim Ireton, Salisbury University and the City Council want to create a new Bike Route for SU Students to travel from SU to Downtown Salisbury. As my earlier Post stated, WHY? What the heck is Downtown at this point and time in which SU Students would have any desire to come to.
Fruitland is the direction things are heading, (for now) and that's just the truth of the matter. This proposed Bike Route is just lipstick on a pig. IF they had any real smarts they would have proposed a Bike Route along the Railroad Tracks from SU to Main Street and no one would be inconvenienced.
But we're dealing with a Mayor who is a school teacher, has NO business background and politicians that are just into doing something, anything, to make it look as if the City is moving forward. That's just not the case.
Think about my proposal along the R/R Tracks instead of Camden Ave and let the Mayor know there's another route that is much safer for everyone involved. Maybe he'll do something right for once.

liberal = raise taxes and spend other peoples money.
Your idea makes much better sense. The bigger picture though is why. If there's nothing for them to visit downtown why build a bike trail there. Its the cart before the apple thing again.

You really think Camden Ave. needs the Bike traffic? It can't handle the cars it is so narrow.

You should get in touch with the metropolitian planning organization. They have been planning to put bike and jogging trails beside the rails for years. They have no funding to enact such things, but they do add creedance to the idea.
No trails anywhere. The money would be better spent elsewhere.
I think the bike trails in Fruitland make sense. It would be nice to see the idea expanded where feasible.

Conservatives complain because we are the ones footing the bill for all the liberal's ideas.
I'm from Arlington VA. Still own a home there, so go back often. Bike paths everywhere. Colleges everywhere. Marymount students are all over the neighborhood in rentals. I go for days on end without ever seeing a cyclist using the paths. Weekends a few more cyclists but not many. Bike racks at the metro stations are fairly empty also.
The people you do see using the bike paths tend to be more middle age and not college age also.

ive said it once, ill say it again...WE ALREADY HAVE BIKE PATHS! (theyre called sidewalks) QUIT SPENDING MY MONEY!
With the bike paths ging from salisbury to fruitland...I hardly see a bike and every now and again I see single persons walking to wal- mart but not college kids...Normally I see college walking in groves of 30 or more up and down streets, lawns. Why would these people bike down to salisbury???It closes at 5:00 and there isnt even anything there during the day..except for the opportunity shop once a week or to visit the future mayor of Salisbury.
We need to spend the money on other things more needed/necessary.
That is almost as stupid as the State putting the tunnel under route 13 for the students safety. They must be closterfobic because I dont see them using it.
Why can you guys think up the stupid stuff but cant think of doing what is NECESSARY.
I ride every day and changing the bike flipping stormwater grates is good enough for me!

Who cares how narrow the street is that is like number 30000000 on a list of 80356qw6781671263478923614 problems. People are so narrow minded.
3:29 the students don't use the underground walkway because they are afraid they will be robbed or jumped plus my daughter says it looks and smells like everyone in town has peed in it. I agree it was a total waste of money. The students are much safer above ground.
I attend SU, and assure all that thousands of students use the tunnel daily...
