N.J. Homeless Find Refuge In The Woods

(CBS News)
The economic recovery may be painfully slow for most Americans. But for the more than 630,000 people who are homeless, the improvements can seem non-existent. For them, it's about surviving and in New Jersey, even that's threatened. CBS News correspondent Tony Guida looks at one particular group.
Angelo Villanueva was working as a mason until the housing market collapsed.
"I lost my job, lost my insurance, lost my car, lost my apartment," he said.
For nine months, he's been living in the woods near Lakewood, New Jersey, where we first met him last fall.
"I never thought I'd be homeless," he said. "I used to think homeless people were bums, but actually it can happen to anyone at any time."

Hopefully, God will be with him and he WILL NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA this year!

If memory serves me, you were the first to do an article on tent cities and local people living in the woods.

Being homeless is a personal choice, not a necessity. Their is help for those that need it (AND MILLIONS THAT DON'T).

I know parents who are homeless and who are scared to seek help because they feel as if their children will be taken away from them. Homelessness for many is not by choice. Truth be told most people are only a paycheck or two away from it. I know for myself sometimes I have to choose between rent and medicine and/or food. I frequent foodbanks and pantries just to make it thru the month. I work full time and have health benefits thru my employer. So I am not lazy by far. When I went to dSs to get help they instantly looked at my gross income and said I made to much money. Never looking at my net or take home pay all that mattered was my gross. Sometimes I hate going to the grocery stores when people w/foodstamps load up on steak and shrimp while I have to choose between hamburger or lunch meat. My taxes pay for their free food but I can't get any help. Where's the justice in that? Rewarded w/ free food, health insurance, and cash assistance where is the incentive to work or better themselves? Frustrated to say the least!

1:45 there are those who don't want a government handout. They want to work for what they have. When you take government handouts you become a slave to their regulations and rules.

It is easy to get a nice warm place to sleep, watch TV, get 3 meals a day, free medical, glasses, dental, laundry services, books to read, all paid for by the Taxpayers, it is called Jail! Just do a small crime and get taken in for the winter!
No one needs to sleep in the woods!
