Today the Daily Times, (once again) partnered up with the OCPD in an attempt to discredit Earl Campbell. The funniest part about their article, (to me) is as follows. #1, they published it on a Saturday, the worst day circulation wise because their article is crap. #2, they once again went on the attack against Salisbury News. Yeah, they never used our name but every one knows how big we are "local gossip site".
Well, call us what you like. The fact that they're throwing punches and then running away simply tells me we're doing our job and THEY are forgetting, no matter what the outcome is, Earl Campbell came to us with a story that even they ran but we had it weeks before they did. I was asked by Mr. Campbell from day one to HOLD the story, (in which I did) until he formerly resigned.
Now, here's the kicker. Below are just a couple of remarks that came out from the OCPD. With all due respect, I must challenge it and you'll see why.
DiPino said she asked her department to research where the surgery took place, and police contacted veterinarians across Maryland, Delaware and Virginia.
Officers looking for proof the dog had surgery came back empty-handed, according to DiPino.
OK, can any one of YOU tell me what right DiPino and her Department had using up ALL of those resources to investigate an animal that was no longer in their possession or their property? Can you tell me what Veterinarian would PROVIDE such information without a subpoena? Did the OCPD LIE to ALL of these Veterinarians claiming the dog was still theirs?
One way or the other, I'd say the OCPD absolutely violated the law by doing what they did and Mr. Campbell, (IMHO) has every right to go after Ocean City. Nevertheless, Earl's neighbors can attest for a fact that Charlie did in fact recently have the surgery. One thing is for sure, based on ALL the hype about Charlie, the Veterinarian that performed the surgery would NOT give ANYONE any answers about Charlie. USE YOUR HEADS PEOPLE.
Now, one thing I know to be a FACT and the Daily Times even admitted it, Earl Campbell is more than willing to provide the information and receipts to the Council IF they are wiling to give him the meeting he has been asking for since day one. His intent is to MAKE A DIFFERENCE for future K-9 Dogs down the road. Funny how the Council has NOT taken Earl up on that offer.
Anyone with eyes can see that Charlie is shaved and has had the surgery THEY are challenging didn't happen. In my honest opinion, if attention is distracted AWAY from the COMMENTS from our original Post on this matter, the OCPD wins. IF people go back and see what was said in the hundreds of comments, well, it doesn't look very good on the Department even if only a fraction of them are true and accurate. I have received hundreds of comments today and several e-mail messages concerning this matter. I hope this clears everything up. Now I have some final shopping to do and I look forward to looking at comments when I return.
In closing, shame on you Daily Times. You're a propaganda piece for the municipalities and you can no longer be trusted as a Newspaper. You have NO evidence the surgery wasn't done and you have attempted to discredit an honorable man and his Family.

The Daily Times has been caught 'red handed' time and time again in distortion of facts.
Instead of reporting the news - they try and make-up the news. SBYnews & DT readers have witnessed this time and time again in reporting BOE issues, local plant closings, layoffs, city politics, and electric utility issues - MAPP - (Mid Atlantic Power Pathway).
That being said - my biggest bone with DiPino is in her statement to the DT reporter;
' At some point, OCPD will bring aboard a new K-9 handler and a new dog to replace Campbell, DiPino said.'
I hope the OC Council recognizes that DiPino doesn't deserve another K-9 dog - but might instead consider a ROBOT.
OC Council members are you listening!
Completely agree that Campbell is under no mandate to disclose any info to OCPD, and what business does the dept. have using tax payer resources to investigate this when no crime has been committed. With that said, now that DiPino has made the assertation that the dog never had a procedure....I would highly encourage Campbell to substantiate his claim. She's essentially questioning your integrity, and that crosses the line IMHO.
This is the same Daily Times whose reporters neglect to tell the public and how people really feel about the BMS project. Meanwhile they run editorials that approve of the project. The editorial board if that paper is NOT separate from the news side. Shame on those hacks!
When I read the article this morning, I wondered the same thing as you, Joe. DePino put all that manpower towards trying to discredit Campbell? I wonder how much that cost? And for what end?

Well, the OCPD and city council need to answer why are they trying to find out who did the K9's surgery when Mr. Campbell never asked for reimbursement in the first place. It's scary to think that a multi million dollar organization is going after a man and his dog. What say you Ocean City council about the OCPD administration trying to smear Mr. Campbell's name, of course with the assistance of the main stream media?

Wboc is obviously in collusion with OCPD spreading government propaganda in attempt to continue the charade of honor, integrity and righteousness in our bought and paid for law enforcement... just a pitiful attempt to maintain face in the public eye. Yet, stupidity reigns there as they publicly admitted they conducted an illegal investigation based on a malicious vendetta. I for one certainly hope the states attorney, DOJ and the ACLU takes a very close look at admissions of criminal acts by command and patrol officers.
Yes, even dogs and vets have ethics they have to follow...it is still protected info without a release of info. As an OC property tax payer...how much time was wasted on this...ask for a receipt or don't offer payment...stupid...
As I have stated many many times on this site - my advice stands -
STAY OUT OF OCEAN CITY.
They will pick your pockets and then one day you will check your wallet and there will not be any money left to get your _sss west of the Assowoman Bay.
Especially the youth should stay clear of OC.
I'm not sure why people keep buying the tiimes and watching WBOC unless they enjoy propaganda. They are the mouthpiece of the police and not much more. You can get the weather at Weather.com or NOAA.gov and that's the only good info that times and boc provide anymore. If you ignore them, they might go a way.
We took some cookies to a neighbor and they had the paper laying right there. I asked if I could read the article. I just shook my head at all the lies that were in it. Our neighbor commented on the front page and how right here at Christmas they had to put up a story about dope. How about something Christmas on the front page. Even a picture that had to do something with Christmas. I'm glad I don't waste my money on the trash.
DiPino sounds like she has napoleon complex.
If DiPino really had officers investigating this then she is truly scary. Her actions are just giving more validity to the comments that people are leaving on this site.
I agree with 9:55. As I stated before, Ex-Mayor Mathias helped her obtain the police chief position & then betrayed & shunned him during the 2010 State Senator campaign in support of James. This displayed her true colors to everyone and that she was not a person who values character & integrity, which are important values that someone in her position should possess. This is a leader that many of us would avoid following at all costs.
From what I have gathered over the last couple weeks from many statements is that she is "POSSIBLY" the bullying-type & bullied Campbell while employed. From what I gathered from Saturday's Daily Times statements is that she "DEFINITELY" the bullying-type & is continuing to bully Campbell he is unemployed.
Bullying is persistent unwelcome behavior, mostly using unwarranted or invalid criticism, nit-picking & fault-finding and a bully's main purpose is to:
Hide their inadequacies, which it appears obvious to many of us that DiPino is attempting to conceal from the public's eye with her perpetual bullying tactics & threats.
