Handicap Permit

I just need to share this with you. I went to the county treasurer’s office yesterday to pay my $2000 tax bill. When I returned to my car I was met by a very nice female police person who explained to me at length that the handicap tag must be hung on the rear view mirror with the expiration date forward, but must be removed before the vehicle is put in motion. Leaving it stuck in the bottom corner of the windshield is a violation.... Makes me feel a little better about my approaching 80th birthday.

As Robert Louis Stevenson wrote in "TREASURE ISLAND": "THEM AS DIES 'LL BE THE LUCKY ONES!!"

Do you need the permit? I mean, you could have mailed the tax payment but you chose to pay it in person. Good health is something to brag about.

How amny people do you see every day driving down the street with that tag still hanging (and obstructing their view) from the rear view mirror? AND driving in the left lane at 15 MPH BELOW the posted speed limit? The police go right by them, because they have "texting drivers" to catch. And fine.

What next? A violation for eating and driving? Changing CD's while driving?

NEED THE PERMIT??? MY COMMENTS ON THAT WOULD FILL A GOOD-SIZED BOOK. NO ONE REALLY REALLY NEEDS THE PERMIT..IT IS JUST ANOTHER LARGESS BY OUR BENEVOLENT "BIG BROTHER" GOVERNMENT TO CONTROL OUR LIVES. A LARGE PART OF THE PERSONS HAVE NO MORE THAN TOO MUCH FAT OR ARE USING SOMEONE ELSE'S TAG.
IT'S JUST LIKE OTHER SOCIAL PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO HELP THE HELPLESS.-- MORE SCAM ARTISTS THAN PEOPLE IN NEED.
