The 48-hour walkout by Greek workers on Wednesday and Thursday has been dubbed "the mother of all strikes" by leading Greek daily Ta Nea. The biggest strikes since the debt crisis began in the country almost two years ago saw thousands of protesters ringing parliament on Wednesday as part of massive demonstrations against the latest raft of austerity measures — measures that parliament is expected to pass on Thursday.
After a massive and largely peaceful anti-austerity demonstration devolved into street fights between riot police and hooded youths, Evangelia Trifona sat on the steps of a store with smashed windows, her eyes red and watery from tear gas.

protect the banks and f*** the people. Boy this world is an amazing thing to live in.
Its hard being weaned from the government teat.
And you guys hate OWS because....?
The ONLY people being "weaned" are the PEOPLE, NOT the government officials who, in order to garner more votes, so they could keep their cushy jobs, spent every dime they could find, see, and predict. NOW, they want the "people" to sacrifice and suffer. How much are the legislators going to "scarifice" or "suffer"? Answer? Exactly zero. Just like here in the USA, where Congress talks about budget cuts and "austerity", but takes 90 congressmen to Isreal, the president takes his entire family (including his GRANDMOTHER!) to France, Rio, Japan etc., and Senators have 70-100 people on their staff, including people who make sure their shoes are clean and their dry cleaning is picked up. Meanwhile, "we, the people" get to decide between groceries or the elecric bill. Old people eat crackers and cheese for dinner and break their pills in half. WHERE is that little punk who said "the system is working?" Where ya at, boy?? Probably checking on his "investments".
