Social Security Strained

The stampede for Social Security disability benefits has put an unprecedented strain on the system. Applications are up nearly 50 percent over a decade ago and new Congressional estimates say the trust fund that supports Social Security will run out of money by 2017. The trustees who oversee Social Security are urging Congress to shore up the disability system by reallocating money from the retirement program, just as lawmakers did in 1994. That, however, would provide only short-term relief at the expense of weakening the retirement program. Social Security Administrator Michael Astrue said this is a sign of economic desperation.

There are many people that deserve the disability benefit.
There are also a huge number of scumbags gaming the system.

What alot of people don't know is that many kids who are diagnosed as ADHD get SSI benefits......the parent lives off the check. If the kid is removed from the parent's home the check is supposed to stop...talk about an angry parent...that parent feels so entitled to that $$!

...and Obama wants to continue his "tax relief" plan by allowing money that is supposed to go into social security to be kept and spent by not withholding withholding. His scheme is just another way to steal money from retirees and to continue to bankrupt the program. Smoke and mirrors, everybody, smoke and mirrors. They're just robbing Peter to pay Paul. ...and Peter is our kids and grandkids.
