That's why Congress struggled for months to find a solution to the debt crisis. The votes have never been there. And we'll know soon if they're there now.

Well you don't compromise values. Thats why we elected the new comgressmen - to carry our values forward. NOT to compromise them and water them down. If this goes thru we will still collapse. It will just be 6 months down the road rather than next week. And the collapse will be worse. We should just do the right thing now and face the music. Get it right. Shrink the Federal govt. down to the size it was intended to be - and subsequently the related costs to run such a govt. We can be out of debt in short order.

Anon 7:52 PM:

I agree, and this is why I think it is done this way on purpose... Because we all know this will cripple our economy and country yet they till keep on, keeping on... I think we will have the same problem 6 months to a year from now and we will do the same exact thing...

People are to easily scared these days and this is 50% of the problem...

No, it's not the deal that Obama wanted, but that's what compromise is. As 7:52 points out, all those new Repub. congressmen were not elected to continue business as is.

The damn Pelosi's and Reid's of the government are going to be the downfall of us all. They are so crooked they don't know how to think straight.

8:07 they arre all cut from the same clothe. As a registered republican and a staunch conservative, I am sick to my stomach to finally wake up to the fact that the republican party is just as guilty as the democrat party for selling this country out to the wealthy elite. While I agree that businesses are the backbone of this country as it relates to creating work, the bailouts to large banks was an affront to the taxpayers of this country. No, no, no. We need an overhaul to this nation. It is too late to fix the problem now. You can't continue to borrow money to pay debt. It is a formula for financial disaster. Financial disaster is a mathmatical certainty now. Ther simply is no way to avoid that. The best thing to do is to face this fact, control the collapse to the best possible degree and rebuild as quickly as we can with "We the People" and the constitution as the focal point. We need to push the reset button and get it over with. This "deal" is no deal at all for our country. It is a smoke screen. A chance to funnel more money thru QE3 to the wealthy elite. Time to prepare.

What debt? The Fed printed the money out of thin air. The Federal Government has the authority to debase our currency on their own. Simply print the money needed. Period.

There is no need to pay interest on money which printed out of nothing.
