Hurt the people b/c most are having difficulty making things meet anymore. We do not need another burden...
HURT - citizens have endured enough taxing & extra "charges". Top paid government/officials need to take the HIT!
wow, do you really have to ask that question? How in the world could they be helpful?
Cut the FAT no more new taxes..make due with what you have we the tax payers have to.

For the first time in my 47 years I've been watching my money better. I don't have the fear of not being able to pay my bills, but the high price of gas and other things is really making me rethink how I'm spending. No more impulse buying for me. Any new taxes would make me rethink and steamline my spending even more therefore I would hurt the economy.
No simple answer. Depends on the tax. For instance, a significant increase in property taxes might make it more difficult to sell your house. On the other hand, if they use the property tax increase to put in new curbs and sidewalks, or improve your local public school, that could significantly increase the value of your house.
Another example: 10-cent-a-drink tax? No impact. Who in their right mind is going to drive to another state, even if it's only a few miles, to drink in a bar? You'd have to buy a lot of drinks to offset the cost of the gasoline. And you'd have to drive home drunk, risking an accident, expensive drunk-driving ticket, or loss of your driver's license. You have to do the cost-benefit analysis.
the money is already there for essential services and quality of life projects. Just stop wasting what you already get from us and cut the stupid spending. Big govt not good. Less invasive govt, like it was meant to be, is better and keeps taxes low and economy strong. The less the govt runs, the better our economy will be. They work for us, not the other way around.
just remember the government should not be a "nanny" state by taking care of your needs with all the tax dollars (your dollars) they collect.
it's far better for you to "keep" your hard earned money and take care of yourself. again it's your money do spend or save as you wish.
government can't create jobs for the private sector. they can only spend "your money" as THEY see fit.
how stupid is this on our part to think they have our best interests at heart.... they truly don't care about you. the only thing they care about is getting more and more of your money to line their pockets and buy the voters who don't know better in every election so they can stay in power. do you get it yet?
bottom line: taxes NEVER help the economy.
We have had lower taxs, two wars, and a new medicare drug plan, with no increase in revenue.
So how has that been working out?
I thought the president said he'd get us out of Iraq? When? When the Pentagon is good and ready!
Joe, I think everyone who agrees in a tax increase should come forward and donate the money out there pocket to help reduce the deficit. In return everyone who doesn't agree will not ask the government for a welfare check.
BJH-I don's necessarily agree with you. When they increased the sales tax to 6% we started shopping at the Lowe's in Lewes instead of the one in Salisbury. Since we are in Ocean City the distance didn't make much difference. I do know of alot of Ocean Pines people that will drive to the Milsboro Lowes when making large purchases to save on tax. I stock up about once a week on my wine and since I do go through Selbyville everyday. I will compare and see if stopping off in DE for my 3 bottles a week is is worthwild.
Agree or disagree with the strategy, but the main proposal has been to increase the top 2 tax rates (which most of you reading this don't pay) up about 3-4% to levels on par to what was paid during the conservative "golden years" of Reagan and most of the 90's during economic boom years. Seems like the evidence shows this shouldn't stop job growth.
sheesh, the same people hollering about spending are many of the same ones that depend (or will soon) on medicare and ss, yet you don't want to take the steps needed to shore up both.
I think only tax payers should be allowed to vote then I'd bet you'd see a change in Washington.

Uneducated people think you can soak it to the rich and balance the budget.
Here's a simple fact, you can raise the tax rates for the top 2% earners in this counrty to 100% tax and still not balance the budget.
The class warfare arguement is a straw dog arguement to draw attention away from the fact that too many people in this country are being paid to be idle.

Hurt, particularly with the price of gas. It's ridiculous. Paid $3.53 today. Cost me $47.00 to fill up my car. Glad I don't own a truck.

HaHa, In case you haven't noticed the county is going broke. The money is NOT there for essential services. Just look at our roads. The state took what money was there to balance their own budget. The sherrifs office has had to scale way back. The county will not be able to meet maintenance of effort for the third year. I am glad that people like you are so smart. All you can say is "cut the fat". That is so worn out. Pleas tell me oh wise one. Where is the fat? Voice has had years to come up with it. All they did was ramrod a false bill of goods with the revenue cap and talk people into voting for another 1million dollar level of government in the county called the executive branch. Let's hear YOUR answers.
