Being that Texas is a giant state with wide expanses of dull spaces, you can't blame people for wanting to rush through it faster. Lawmakers are considering upping the speed limit to 85 miles per hour on some stretches of highway. Currently, Texas has 500 miles of roads with a speed limit of 80.

I like to see that implemeted on Route 50, 13 north and South and 413 going into Crisfield.
Any other roads you like to note?
I'd be interested in knowing what their car crash stastics are on those roads vs. alike roads elsewhere. Bet it's not much worse with the higher speed of 80.
I don't like driving that fast but it's because I'm not used to doing it, I'm sure.
I remember when we had 70 mph highways in Texas and that was okay. Then I moved here and everything was 55.

People don't have the skills to drive that fast around here. Even if they did, it wouldn't work in this area. Too many traffic lights and accesses.
Not enough open road to make it beneficial.
even if we up it to 75 here, we will still have people doing 35 in the fast lane.
HELL MAKE IT 100 MPH
It's because American drivers suck. Too preoccupied with checking their makeup, texting/calling, reading the newspaper, eating food. Examine the vast difference in highway fatalities between the US highway system and the German Autobahn. I'd be fine with it, but I'd be worried about those around me more than anything.
