ANNAPOLIS – Senator Ben Cardin is poised to put partisan politics ahead of Maryland federal employees and our troops, by allowing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to block a new one-week continuing resolution. Today, despite a bipartisan vote in support of the continuing resolution to keep the government running and to fund our brave servicemen and women; Senator Cardin is instead standing in lockstep with Senate Democrats who refuse to even consider the legislation.
“Countless Maryland residents who work for the federal government are set to go without a paycheck because Senator Cardin would rather play political games with the budget. Maryland’s federal employees and our state’s economy simply cannot afford a government shutdown caused by Democrat political posturing. We only find ourselves in this situation because Cardin along with his Maryland Democrat colleagues failed to pass a federal budget last year when they held both the House and Senate in addition to the White House. Maryland Congressmen Bartlett and Harris along with Congressional Republicans have passed bipartisan legislation to begin the process of putting our fiscal house back in order, but Democrat obstructionism is putting us on a collision course with a government shutdown. I urge Marylanders to call Senator Cardin and demand that he and his colleagues support this reasonable legislation to keep our troops funded and our government running,” said Maryland Republican Party Chairman, Alex X. Mooney.
Marylanders are encouraged to call the office of Senator Cardin at (202) 224.4524 to demand the Senate take up the House’s continuing resolution.

Drones! Once they reach Washington they all become out of touch with the concerns of the people. Except he was already a polical hack before getting elected. If you are liberal and can't get elected anywhere else in the country move to Maryland or California. Our democrat Governor will be sure he can zone you in an electable base.
There is no reason for any vote on a continuing resolution. The President has already said that he would veto it. The truth of the matter is that both sides need to stop their posturing and getting ready for the next election and do what they were elected to do - lead, legislate and run the country the way it is supposed to be run.
This is still all about partisan politics and I don't know how the rest of this country feels but I think it is time for them to do their jobs and stop this constant bickering, nit picking and arguing. I bet when it's time for their next automatic pay raise that they don't stop that.
Maybe we the people should let them know that if they don’t do their jobs they won’t get paid. Maybe it’s time for us to somehow take money out of their pockets instead of them constantly find ways to take our money and doing whatever they darn well please with it.
I would say that the republicans in the house are doing exactly what we put them there for. Cut out all these stupid entitlement programs the tax payers have no business funding. You in no way way can tell me that we should pay for anyones abortion. At what point is it responsible for us to pay an artist to piss in a jar with a crusafix? Because no one would really pay to go and see it we have to subsidize it. Crazy! I work to hard to waste money on things like that. The federal government is way out of bounds and it's time for the people to start reeling them in.
Here's one to ponder over... The United States Service Member will be working for free as of Tomorrow morning, if this shutdown happens. They wont lay their rifles down and go home. They cant try and find another means of income to pay the bills that will still keep coming. They will stand the watch, hoping that the Grocery Stores, and Gas Stations their families rely on to live begin accepting "eventual backpay" as payment for the things they need for everyday life. The "Government Leaders" in DC, however will still see their paychecks on time, every time. The only thing this shutdown means to them is they "need" to start working weekends, and "how is this going to look come re-election time". Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and the like are all rolling over in their graves right now. Rolling all the way to Canada...
