GOVERNOR MARTIN O’MALLEY TO CONTINUE “MARYLAND FORWARD” SERIES WITH TRANSPORTATION TRUST FUND ROUNDTABLE


ANNAPOLIS, MD (April 28, 2011) – TOMORROW, Governor Martin O’Malley will join the Blue Ribbon Commission on Maryland Transportation Funding, business leaders, elected officials and stakeholders in transportation for an important roundtable discussion on Maryland’s Transportation Trust Fund. The Governor will facilitate a discussion with attendees on the future of transportation funding in Maryland.

Following the State of the State address, Governor O’Malley announced a series of “Maryland Forward” local policy forums. Today’s discussion continues a series of smaller groups of local stakeholders focused on specific policy areas that will help Maryland be a winner in the new economy, protect our neighborhoods, and create jobs.

So, what will they discuss? How they spend the money that the gas tax put into the Trust Fund on something else? That they need to raise the gas tax so they can put more money into the Trust Fund so they can spend it on anything but roads?

The biggest structural deficit MD has is in the heads of some of the elected officials.
