Wouldn't you know it. Sheriff Mike Lewis has a tan pickup truck pulled over on the Bypass just south of the Rt 50 exit. He called in the plate and asked for information. Before they could get back with him with info he had already placed the suspect under arrest for CDS.
Some say he's like a drug sniffing K-9. Good work Sheriff Lewis.

Sheriff Lewis will need to resign after Mr. Leggs gets off, his leap to trample all over the U.S. Constatution and Bill of Rights has cost the people of Wicomico county loads of money and makes a laughing stock out the Justice system!!! He was trained to know better, and all of his grandstanding in Annapolis makes him look even dumber than he is!!!!

Sheriff Lewis did what the people of Wicomico wanted him to do. Maybe we should have done different and waited years to find her but I dont think so. Leggs will get his sooner or later

Wicomico County is blessed to have a great sheriff's department and leadership.
Mike Lewis and all the LE working on the Leggs case did a good job from the day the child was reported missing. The police make the arrest, the liars oops Lawyers are the ones that screw everything up.

Mike Lewis is the man. And I agree whole heartedly with the comment about anyone not loving and respecting Mike is most likely a criminal theirself or someone who wants certain drugs legalized. Mike is the first chance in Wicomico of a real politician who is honest and does not put up with the corrupt bull that goes on.

Mike Lewis has ALWAYS been the drug sniffer. When he was with MSP, he didnt need a dog. He brought in most of the big drug busts on the bypass when I worked at the jail. I am very proud to say he is the Sheriff of my county! Great job Mike....keep up the great work!!!
Despite all the controversy surround Sheriff Lewis one thing is certain-his heart is in the right place and he cares deeply about ridding the streets of criminals.
The sheriff's made tons of arrests in his career so of course some of the cases will get tossed out.
It amazes me how anyone can condemn Mike Lewis in regards to the Sarah Foxwell case. Regardless of your personal feelings about him as a man or as Sheriff, you should have the decency to realize that he was instrumental in arresting that known pedophile TJ Leggs and giving Sarah some means of justice when he took her life.
I have known Mike almost my whole life. He has a wonderful heart and was deeply, emotionally affected by the events around Sarah's death. He did a wonderful job and I'm proud of him.
Perhaps you need to sweep out your closets before you judge others, Mr. Taylor. Maybe if someone you love goes through a similar situation as the Foxwell family we will advise Sheriff Lewis NOT to assist you, as you feel he is imcompetent.

I think people are getting a little ahead of themselves on this case. I have known Mike Lewis for years and I voted for him. If the gossip is correct then why wouldn't you want him supporting the prosecutor? It would be like bashing another worker in the same company. If you do it the WHOLE company looks bad. That is basically what this is, right? Also, you don't have to agree with a decision to support it. What about our President? I didn't vote for him, but now he is the Commander in Chief, I support him. If not, then I'm helping this country to fail. I say "Keep up the good work, Sheriff!' Also, I plan keep voting for him at all future elections! Thank you Joe for your post.

The fact is pound for pound Mike Lewis is the best interdiction cop in Maryland and well the East Coast. The man has drive 25+ years on the job. Lewis is dedicated to his profession. Has the man made a few mis-steps here and there. Absolutely and so would you and I faced with the task at hand. That is why only a hanful of people can do the job of being a crime fighter.

The bootom line is that a heinous crime was committed at Christmas. This child was excited about Christmas presents and days off of school. She was innocent. No one here on earth could ever imagine what a demonic, sick person Thomas Leggs actually was and still is.
This crime effected all of of us. I dont care who or what your are. What God you follow. This crime was pure evil at the very least.
We as a community wept. Some on the outside, all of us on the inside.
As someone who was there and witnessed this horrific event from start to end. I will say Mike Lewis placed himself in forefront. If this case turned to crap. Mike had placed himself in the direct line of fire in a nations eye. We were being watched by the entire country as this case unfolded. It was a media dream. Christmas and a missing child. The allied agecies and volunteers came out in droves to help. They were all heroic at a time of need. The seventy-two hours it took to find this chils anyway. Once she was found anyway. After that we were all beaten and went home to our families on Christmas day to hug our children and loved ones.
Those actually at the scene tried to close thier eyes and forget what they saw. They tried to understand why god would let this happen. They tried to put a smile on for those around them. Trust me it did not happen.
The bottom line short of stopping Legg's while in transit with this child we could not have saved her. Satan won this one.
So while we all look for a place to put this anger and sorrow we lash out at Mike lewis and Davis Ruark, Matt, Jennifer, and Joe. None of these people deserve our judgement. They are all victims in this as well. No matter how we break it down in our minds. Every police officer in this case will be forever scarred by this case in one way or another.
There is only one person to be angry at here. It is Thomas T.J. Leggs. I know there are things in his past that helped make him the animal that his is. The bottom line is Thomas Leggs made a choice that can never be fixed. If we put him to death will we forget Sarah. I know I will not. If he does life without I will still be touched by this case till the day I die.
So we have to let the system do what it can to make sure this man is never free again period.
Has anyone asked is there other victims out there. Was a deal struck to get all the facts. There may be children that need counseling, that need to know they will not suffer alone. If a deal was struck I pray to god they got that information at the very least.
So 5:39 I hope you have the mental capabilities to understand what the freak you are talking about. I hope your family never endures anything remotely like this. It is time for all of us to make peace with this case. We have all learned many lessons that hopefully will help prevent this type of crime from ever darkening our lives again.
I know that Sarah is walking in fields of gold. That she is walking among lions and kings with no fear or pain. That is the only peace I find in all of this.
