Mr. Albero:
This letter is in response to a blog that appeared today at sbynews.com entitled “Here’s How They Voted On Gay Marriage”:
Members of the House of Delegates have not yet voted on House Bill 55, the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Act. In fact, the House Judiciary Committee is holding a bill hearing on HB 55 today at 1:00 p.m. The Senate of Maryland has voted on the issue however and Senate Bill 116 passed 25-21 yesterday. One of their members is Senator Joan Carter Conway from Baltimore. The writer evidently did not check the facts and mixed up my name with the Senator’s. You may check the votes yourself by going to http://www.blogger.com/ Choose Bill Information and Status and then type in HB55, or HB175 or SB116. You can access a lot of information on these bills, including the vote tallies.
Delegate Norman H. Conway
Chairman, House Appropriations Committee
121 House Office Building
Annapolis, MD 21401
Editors Note: While I firmly agree with Mr. Conway, I recognized his name there as a Delegate, (not Senator) hence the reason I titled it, how they voted. The error was on whomever loaded the original information on the State's Website, not Salisbury News.
