Salisbury Police Department Press Releases

On February 4, 2011 at approximately 9:25 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police Safe Streets Unit executed a search and seizure warrant at a residence on the seven hundred (700) block of Baker Street in Salisbury for controlled dangerous substance violations. During the execution of the warrant, the officers recovered substantial quantities of suspected "crack"/cocaine and suspected marijuana. In addition, the officers found equipment used to package, weigh and distribute these substances. As a result of the execution of the warrant, the below listed suspect was taken into custody. This investigation is continuing.

ARRESTED: Lloyd James Bingham, 43 years of age
Salisbury, Maryland
CHARGES: Possession of cocaine with intent to distribute
Possession of marijuana with int. to distribute
Possession of cocaine
Possession of marijuana
Possession of CDS/Paraphernalia (4 counts)
DISPOSITION: Released to Central Booking

On February 4, 2011 at approximately 2:48 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department received a call to respond to the Brew River Restaurant for two (2) disorderly subjects. Upon arrival, the officers met with restaurant security who advised that two (2) subjects were refusing to leave the establishment upon request. The officers met with both subjects, one of which left upon the officer’s request. The second suspect, listed below, became further disorderly and refused to leave.

Failure to obey a lawful order
Obstructing and hindering an investigation

On February 4, 2011 at approximately 12:25 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to the District Court Building on Baptist Street to assist the court bailiffs. Upon arrival the officers were advised that the below listed suspect had responded to district court with a cane. The cane was checked and was found to contain a long sword type blade when disassembled. The cane was confiscated and the suspect was taken into custody.

CHARGES: Possession of a dangerous, concealed weapon

On February 4, 2011 at approximately 10:36 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police were on routine patrol in the area of East Main Street and Snow Hill Road and observed the below listed suspect running. The officers stopped the suspect to check his welfare and detected a strong odor of suspected marijuana on the suspect’s person. When asked about the odor, the suspect gave the officers a smoking device containing suspected marijuana.

On February 5, 2011 at approximately 5:40 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police responded to a residence on the seven hundred (700) block of East Church Street to attempt to locate a wanted suspect. As the officers met with the residents, the officers observed a smoking device and CDS related paraphernalia sitting in plain view. The smoking device was checked and found to contain suspected "crack"/cocaine. The items were seized and the below listed suspects were taken into custody.

ARRESTED #1: Jeffrey McKinley Stuart, 48 years of age
Salisbury, Maryland
ARRESTED #2: Wendy Denise Hewitt, 42 years of age
Salisbury, Maryland
CHARGES (both): Possession of cocaine
Possession of CDS/Paraphernalia
DISPOSITION: Both released to Central Booking
