PRMC

Good evening Joe. :)

I'm not usually a fan of PRMC for obvious reasons you usually cover in your blog, but I did want to let you know something I thought was wonderful they did a few minutes ago.
 
My little boy got seen a few days ago for a really bad ear infection in the ER.  The nurse and doctor that saw him were fantastic with kids and were really great.  What got me though was I just got a call from them wanting to check up on my son and make sure that he was feeling better.  The lady who called was really nice and very professional.  You could tell she was really calling with compassion not just calling to get her list of those that had been seen done.  I have never had this happen from PRMC in all my years of going there let alone for my kids.  I thought it was great they had called.  Hope this is a good sign they are going in a better direction.

I get sick and tired of the negative comments about PRMC. My family has had nothing but positive experiences there,between my parents, my wife and myself. I am not talking once or twice I would say combined about 30 visits. Just my 2 cents.

Steve, 30 VISITS? Good Lord, that's a lot of visits. Not everyone has bad experiences but there are quite a few people who obviously have had bad luck there. They get to voice their opinion and for what its worth, they spend a ton of money every time they go there.

Just because they're Doctors doesn't mean you don't have the right to complain. You gire a Doctor and you can fire a Doctor. This Website simply gives people a tool to express their experiences and because the MSM is too afraid of these Doctors you never hear the bad experiences. I will not allow an ad from PRMC because I never want them to control what is or isn't said here, not that I would do that with any of my advertisers anyway. We openly tell people, if they screw up and its news, we're publishing it. We do not depend on their money from advertising.

Anyhow, you can be sick and tired of others remarking about PRMC but that is their right. No business is perfectly run, especially one that get hundreds, if not thousands of customers per day.

I went to the Emergency Med Center on 13 across from Wawa yesterday. I waited aprox 30 minutes and have to admit everyone from the receptionst, the young ladies who took my vitals all the way to the Doctor were simply wonderful! I was in and out within a little over an hour because the Doctor actually took the time to explain my symptoms to me and also took the time to answer my questions!
I am lucky to have pretty good insurance thrugh work but my personal Doctor can never see me in a timely manner.

I also had a fantastic experience at the PRMC ER over the holidays. Quick, and very professional.

I spent 4 days in ICU. Those people are well trained to take care of the patient. I was very pleased.

The food could be better. Had good coffee.

All these people going to the hospital ER instead of their family doctor or a drop in clinic are what's driving up the cost of health care.

To 4:49PM When you call and make an appointment with your doctor sometimes it can be up to two weeks or more before you actually get to see them. This can be a big problem especially if the pain can not wait.So the alternative choice is the emergency room. If doctors were not so back logged maybe people would not have to go to the ER for simple matters.

Everyone will tell you a bad experience and hardly ever will anyone to you about a good experience. Experiences good out weigh the bad. We are in an area with four hospital within probably an hour drive. Take your pick to which one you go. It is probably the ones who go to the ERs with the cough cold virus symptoms that cannot be treated by medication that are the ones complain. A virus has to run its course and the body has to take care of itself. Not ever illness has to be dealt with by a physician.

Glad you had a good experience at PRMC. Patient surveys recently pointed to a lack of personal touch, hurried exams, long waiting times and less than satisfactory follow-up on the part of the Emergency Department. The administration, from the E.D. providers to the Chief of Operations looked at why. What you just experienced is part of the process that they changed to make you more comfortable with their care and caring.

I was visiting a friend the other day at PRMC. While I am usually quite critical of the care rendered at the hospital, I must say that I was impressed by the two nurses who came into the room to do various procedures. Then a department manager came in and asked my friend if he was satisfied with the care he was receiving and, if he had any complaints, to ask for her. So maybe PRMC is really becoming more aware of what improvements in patient care must be made.

Joe that is over roughly the past 15 years. Between my mom having a mastectomy, my dad in ICU and coronary care and my own out patient testing and surgery. I agree everybody is entitled to their opinion, mine just happens to be a positive one in this instance. No harm no foul.

My son just had triple bypass surgery last Saturday and he says they were great. Lot of the difficulties that people experience in hospitals are brought on by themselves. Salisbury should be thankful to have such a facility. No one nor no business is perfect jackkcharl@aol.com

I must say that there are good and bad experiences everywhere. PRMC has really improved I believe. I remember going to the ER and waiting 2 hrs to be seen . Now they are usually on the ball. Keep up the good work!

I have found that the treatment depends on your coverage except life and death. They do step up then

Interesting comments--the one that stands out to me is the one at 3:16 pm. The person who went to the med center and had a good experience--I have news for you: you didn't see a doctor. There are no doctors on site at that place, ever. It's all PA's all the time--the only supervising physician they have is an Obstetrician who lives in Delaware.

Hope it was nothing serious. If you're not better, you may want to go to PRMC.

11:08--no doctor at PRMC knows your insurance status. It's not allowed. The registration ladies take the info for the hospital and it's not turned over to the doctors.

I do hope that things are improving at PRMC, they really needed to do a better job all around. Our two experiences there two years ago were horrendous, so I am pleased to hear thing are getting better!

About five years ago, a month before my husband and I got married, he was brutally mugged outside our apartment while bringing up some put-together furniture. I wasn't living with him at the time. When he called me to tell me, as we were on the phone together when it happened, I rushed to him. After the police left, I took him to PRMC. We waited nearly 4 hours in the waiting room, and were NEVER triaged. My husband was so tired and worn out and in so much pain, he couldn't sit there any more. I kept asking when we were going to be seen, and we were always "the next person to be called." After 5 or 6 people were called after he was supposed to be the next person, we left. We told them we were leaving because they weren't taking care of his medical needs, and the receptionist looked like she could have cared less. My husband went to Immediate Care the next day. He told them what happened at the hospital and they were shocked, but said that was why they opened, because so many people were dissatisfied with the service they were getting at PRMC. I guess if we had called an ambulance for his brutal-looking bloody eye, we might have been seen sooner, but I honestly doubt it.

I have never been a fan of prmc they missed giving my family member very important medications for 4 days which resulted in a every serious condition. As for the person who went to Salisbury immediately care I bet they gave you a steroid injection. Decadron to quote make you get better faster which there is no medical evidence that Decadron is helpful the correct use of this medication is for respritory issues such as asthma or croup or other serious issue. Sic gives it to almost every patient just to up code the level of service for billing purposes. I suggest your docs in

well, three years ago my inpatient experience at prmc was awful (except for a nurse named susie.)
er visits were equally awful. i just had joint surgery at johns hopkins and it was wonderful--they were professional and efficient. i do use urgent care for bacterial infections. however, when using them for injuries, be sure to follow up with a physician. they didn't find the break in my toe, but treated it correctly anyway.

PRMC needs to go their so called expansion caused the entire destruction of a neighborhood .... say all the nice things you want but will never make things right to the city or the residents that were forced out

I most certainly DID see a real doctor while at the hospital..His name is Dr. Coker. He is a wonderful careing Doctor..none better.

My husband & I also had a 5 hour wait went we came to the ER after a car accident. It was ridiculous! No one would give us any information as to why it was taking so long & when we questioned the wait it was always your next to be seen - what a joke PRMC ER is. Medical Center on the S curve is the way to go for sure. Even if most are PA's they at least give you almost immediate attention. They also have a much better bedside manner than any of those PRMC ER doctors.

I think that is a great idea to do the follow up calls and opinions. The trick is to use the information, so just gather it. We shall see.

Urgent care on the S curve is horrible. I will go out of my way to avoid going there. Misdiagnosed twice, went to the ER and it was something entirely different from what they said. Happened to other people I know too. Will never go there again. And 9:08 is right, you can't leave there without a steroid injection, regardless of what you're in there for.

10:51, actually you are correct that going to the ER by ambulance will get you seen so much faster. They take those brought by ambulance immediately.
