As the Chalk Leader for my flight home from Afghanistan, I witnessed the following:
When we were on our way back from Afghanistan, we flew out of Baghram Air Field. We went through customs at BAF, full body scanners (no groping), had all of our bags searched, the whole nine yards. Our first stop was Shannon, Ireland to refuel. After that, we had to stop at Indianapolis, Indiana to drop off about 100 folks from the Indiana National Guard. That's where the stupid started.
First, everyone was forced to get off the plane-even though the plane wasn't refueling again. All 330 people got off that plane, rather than let the 100 people from the ING get off. We were filed from the plane to a holding area. No vending machines, no means of escape. Only a male/female latrine.
It's probably important to mention that we were ALL carrying weapons. Everyone was carrying an M4 Carbine (rifle) and some, like me, were also carrying an M9 pistol. Oh, and our gunners had M-240B machine guns. Of course, the weapons weren't loaded. And we had been cleared of all ammo well before we even got to customs at Baghram, then AGAIN at customs.
The TSA personnel at the airport seriously considered making us unload all of the baggage from the SECURE cargo hold to have it reinspected. Keep in mind, this cargo had been unpacked, inspected piece by piece by U.S. Customs officials, resealed and had bomb-sniffing dogs give it a one-hour run through. After two hours of sitting in this holding area, the TSA decided not to reinspect our Cargo-just to inspect us again: Soldiers on the way home from war, who had already been inspected, reinspected and kept in a SECURE holding area for 2 hours. Ok, whatever. So we lined up to go through security AGAIN.
This is probably another good time to remind you all that all of us were carrying actual assault rifles, and some of us were also carrying pistols.

11:04 the beef is that in the name of political correctness we have allowed the terrorists to take away the freedoms that this country was founded on. maybe if the idiots in our government were more interested in using common sense then being afraid of hurting someones feelings we wouldn't have to deal with this lunacy
its a pain in the butt that you guys had to go through this, but who knows, you might have another Major Hassan in your ranks looking to sneak in a welcome home surprise.
Apparently the anon 11:04 is speaking as a true military hating lib. I would guess the beef would be that how many times is an inspection needed? Apparently, the monkeys in a barrel TSA agents thought they could do a better job than the Army and US Customs. If they feel that an assult rifle or pistol can't be used as a weapon without bullets must have never seen hand to hand combat. A rifle or pistol "whipping" can leave one nasty brise. Of course the person receiving that bruise won't see it until the have woke up. Swabbing them all for residue? Rediculus. They just got off the battle field. Our government at it's best. Hiring people that are unqualified to do a job and then they believe they are Barney Fife..
You guys missed 11:04 point...he means that a liberal would subject himself to this crap since he has not done anything illegal..he is referring to the samme old lib line..dont like it dont fly, why worry that your subjected to NAZI tactics if you have nothing to hide. remember

I wouldn't call them "Nazi Tactics," if you consult a history book you'll see that the Nazi tried to wipe an entire race off the map through death camps and gas chambers while trying to take over all of Europe and eventually the world. Whether you are in favor of it or not, harsh screening practices fall short of "Nazi tactics."
But they will permit any middle eastern male, speaking farsi, pashtun, or other arabic dialect to board without being accosted in the name of political correctness..... WOW! What have we come to?
5:34...you are right...more like Keystone Cops....EVERY soldier flying back from a war zone goes through so many searches and inspections that the normal TSA screening looks like kisses from your girlfriend. But the TSA bozo's HAVE to treat them like possible criminals. Now, I can see if there were MUSLIM soldiers in the group, search THEM. That would eliminate another "Major Hassan". Of course, that would make too much sense and may hurt someone's feelings, so I guess THAT idea is out. And 11:04 ---please stop with the "if you are not doing anything wrong, then don't worry about what rights you give up, or what humiliations you must endure", because THAT will eventually lead us all to the ovens (or the camps, as a prior article so pointedly articulated).

Nazi archives and records admitting the program of extermination. Hitler's own recorded speeches blaming the Jews for Germany's economic plight after WWI. Piles of shoes 15-20 feet high. Warehouses full of confiscated Jewish property. The evidence is actually incontovertible.
