Letter To The Editor

Joe-

I saw your post yesterday concerning the 'Latino Forum' being held at a local church, and I had to wonder what its purpose would be, other than to pump the Latino community, and to try to put a good PR face on a growing problem-- the heavy drain of illegal immigration on our budgets.

It seems like we see this from time to time. An attempt to 'educate' the public on why we should just accept the presence of whoever wants to come here, and 'celebrate the diversity' as an area of our city loses its character and becomes a separate subculture with a different language and customs.

And of course, if we don't, we're racists.

To that, I would repeat what I said in a comment yesterday.

I don't think the negative attitudes toward the Hispanic community have to do with racism as much as they have to do with that community's willful disregard of the status of those who are here illegally.

Most Hispanic folks I've known are great people- very hard workers, and very nice.

But to just ignore our laws and jump the fence because you feel like you have some right to be here is NOT going to make you too many friends.

And just because we object, that doesn't make us racists, either.

We have always offered lots of opportunities for people to immigrate legally, meld into our social fabric and prosper as fellow Americans.

But don't just sneak in, then join some group of activists and try to tell us of your 'rights' and what kind of contributions you're making.

It will fall on deaf ears.

If you aren't here legally, you aren't welcome.

I agree with letter totally, one problem...

They are considered VOTES for liberals

You are absolutely correct. Simple solution is to start sending them back. They can't vote if they are not here legally. Quit bending the law to suit all these people. Quit making us pay to take care of these people that ARE breaking the law.

boycott the business's that hire.

Amazing how you people assume that everyone Latino is illegal.

That's exactly what this entire deal promoting immigrants is about...VOTES......Votes bought and paid for by Democrats. Owed votes to Democrats for services rendered to immigrants. More money, more excuses for Democrats to squander money they don't even have. Budget is a dirty four letter word to them.

I agree 100%. If you want to live in America, follow the laws set up to become a citizen. The fact that the government turns a blind eye to the presence of illegals and makes excuses for breaking our laws is reprehensible. STOP the insanity.

2:08 please understand 99% of U.S. citizens welcome "legal" immigrants from all over the world. we just don't welcome "illegal" aliens from all over the world.
this can't be made any clearer. what don't you understand about this?

NOBODY said EVERYBODY, 2:08. But there's at least 12 million illegals-- at least that many.
And there's thousands of them HERE, after crackdowns in other states.
Read the post.
Legal= welcome.
Illegal= GO HOME.

(And 10:05- they can't vote if they're not CITIZENS. Just being here legally doesn't get you the right to vote. You must be a US citizen.)

2:08 is right the post states in the beginning it is about a Latino church, I am perfectly legal and used to go to a Latino church should I be considered illegal. If there are illegals here that are harming then join the local INS and get them out of here. No one will complain. But don't put a post saying you have a problem with a post about a Latino Forum because you don't want illegals here, it does nothing but show your ignorance.

its just an issue to distract people from larger debates
can you look at someone and tell if they are legal?
does your legal neighbor pay their taxes are they a disability fraudster can they recite the constitution or name all the presidents or states in the union
the whole thing is a non issue designed to give american loosers a sense of superiority over someone since they themselves are little better than illegals themselves
