Team Guerrero would like to inform all our media friends of a change in opponents at the Nov 20th fight in Atlantic City. Because of factors beyond our control, a different opponent and one with much more experience will be in the opposite corner. Fernando Guerrero will now face a Saul Durran, 37-17 with 2 draws. Durran, fighting out of Mexico, has stopped 30 fighters in his 37 victories. Among his opposition is are greats like Jose Luis Castillo and Hector Camacho. Durran presents a different style for Fernando to work against, and less time for Fernando to prepare for the more experienced Durran. "Fernando's style is one that doesn't need to change a lot in this new match-up. The foundation he has and the skills he has developed, make it easy to do the tweaking necessary to take care of the business at hand. The bottom line is, Fernando is ready" said co-trainer and manager Hal Chernoff.
A win this Saturday night in Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall on the under-card of the Middleweight World Title fight between Sergio Martinez and Paul Williams will give Guerrero some very good exposure to the a new market and one only a few hours from his home town. "I am hopeful that Atlantic City will embrace him as they have done with other fighters like Kelly Pavlic and Arturo Gatti, but I am still working to bring him back home if the opportunity presents itself", said Chernoff.

As slow as they're moving him I think there is a hidden flaw like maybe a glass jaw.
Fighting on this undercard is a good opportunity to get him before the boxing media. There will be boxing reporters from around the nation there to cover the fight and if Fernando can score a spectacular win, that will only help his image.
I just wish he was fighting a higher quality opponent. I understand that the money probably wasn't right for him to fight someone that's a better fighter, but Duran (and the guy he was originally supposed to fight) is a big step down from the previous level of fighters Fernando had been fighting. He needs to keep stepping up in competition, not facing journeymen like Duran.
Regardless, I'll be there to see him. The Martinez-Williams rematch should be a great fight and it's a bonus that Fernando is fighting on the undercard.
