Midterms 'Tipping Point' Election To Stop Socialism

Republican congressional candidate Allen West tells Newsmax that the nation is nearing a “tipping point” toward socialism when more than half of all Americans are dependent on the government for financial support.

The retired Army lieutenant colonel also says the Democrats and his opponent Ron Klein committed a “despicable act” by sending West’s Social Security number to tens of thousands of people, vows to work to defund Obamacare if he is elected, and scoffs at a report that he is associated with the Outlaws motorcycle gang.

NBC’s Lisa Myers recently filed a report suggesting that West is associated with the Outlaws, which has a history of criminal activity, and said that association has cost West support in Florida’s law enforcement community.

West comments: “Her report is based on the fact that I ride a motorcycle and someone asked me about associating with the Outlaws gang, which I have no association with.

“What Lisa Myers needs to understand is I do have the endorsement from the Fraternal Order of Police, and I don’t think there’s any problem as far as my relationship with law enforcement.”

West is running against two-term Democratic Rep. Ron Klein in Florida’s 22nd congressional district, which includes parts of Broward and Palm Beach Counties. West served more than 20 years in the Army with postings in several combat zones, including Iraq and Afghanistan. He has received military awards including the Bronze Star, and holds two Masters Degrees.

West has said the 2010 elections are crucial to halting the growth of the public sector in spending and employment, noting that 47 percent of American households already pay no income taxes.

“Right now we are at a tipping point, a decisive point, and I think that‘s what makes the 2010 election cycle so important,” he says.

“Because if we get to the point in the United States where there are a majority of people that are wedded to the government by subsistence check or by employment check — public sector outpaces private sector two to one in compensation — if the government grows and has more Americans tied to it, then as Margaret Thatcher said, socialism works very well until you run out of other people’s money. And that is truly the tipping point we are at.”

While the campaign has gotten ugly and West has had to deal with a bit of trash, cut the socialist crap. The constant "he's a socialist" cry is nothing more than an (effective) attempt at making your opponent seem unamerican, unpatriotic, and to be feared simply because his ideas for running this democracy differ from yours.

What we need to stop is the Republicans march toward a theocracy.

When a politician wants to tax the working people and in particular, wealthy people (in order to "spread the wealth around" --- a QUOTE from an Obama speech) so as to give something (health care, housing, food, education, electric service, child care, etc) to those who don't earn it, don't work for it, but still clamor to have it, well, what part of "socialism" am I NOT getting?? I wonder how many Bronze Stars (or for that matter, how much military service at all) West's Democratic opponent has? speaking the truth about our country's inexorable march toward equality for the masses DOES NOT make one a 'fearmongerer'....it is merely the truth that stings some people very very badly.

It is impossible to make the money go UP the chain. The money has always come down the chain. Learn your history back to the time income tax was put into place.
I agree that there are those who are on the welfare system because they've learned to "work" the system and I'm all for changing that but as a "working class" citizen, it's should not be up to me to pay a larger share so the big boys get bigger.
I don't have tax loopholes to hide my money - how 'bout you?

The U.S. Constitution established two forms of taxation: Direct and Indirect.

Indirect taxes can be avoided. They include taxes on toll roads, bridges, licenses, etc.

Direct taxes MUST BE APPORTIONED.

Approtioned taxes means everyone pays exactly the same amount.

Taxation on our labor is not constitutional.

Governemnt is supposed to be small. When it becomes large (massive?) it is inherently oppressive. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. We now live under a military dictatorship - like much of the world. The American Empire has enslaved people around the globe for the benefit of the few inbred Satanists who control the international banks and corporations.

1:19 "We now live under a military dictatorship"

which is exactly why you are able to freely spout this crud without fear of recrimination.

Oh by the way, chances are your Fed. taxes were lower in 2009-2010 than the year before.

Imclain "to those who don't earn it, don't work for it, but still clamor to have it"
If this is the "information" that you base your premise on, no wonder you're lost. You guys wonder why people roll their eyes when it comes to debating your candidates. It's because you cannot debate someone who is being at the very least academically dishonest and at the worst outright lying in order to stoke fear as a substitute for the integrity of the political position they have staked.

Spouting crud without fear of recrimination?

You mean expressing the freedom of speech - because I have vocal chords?

No one gives me freedom. Freedom is free. It is the removal of freedom that requires human intervention.

3:16... I can't let THAT go unanswered....I'm referring to (just to clear things up with FACTS you've chosen to "academically" ignore) the 47% of people who PAY NO INCOME TAXES but still get what's called the "earned (how was it "earned?) income credit". The MILLIONS of people in subsidized housing for decades (Obama's aunt was in that for 10 years!!). The MILLIONS of single mothers collecting foods stamps (now called "Independence Cards" ..and exactly how are they "independent"???). The MILLIONS of people having their electric and child care fully or partially paid for by --- here we go---- TAXPAYERS! These are FACTS. Undeniable FACTS. Not, as you insultingly state, academically dishonest or outright lies. These people did not earn it (go ahead -- explain to us how people like Obama's aunt worked for anything or earned anything). Washington, DC has THOUSANDS of families who have been on public assistance for at least three generations and thats just ONE city. Wnat to look at Detroit? Philadelphia? Trenton? I'm FAR from lost, but apparently more awake and in touch with the FACTS than you.

oh yeah, 3:16....did you miss the article on this site a few days ago concerning the possible monitoring of the internet to detect "resentment of government" by otherwise innocent people? Or the article concerning Governor O'Malley's arrest of THOUSANDS of INNOCENT American citizens? Or the details of the Patriot ACT? There's no need to stoke fear...if people aren't already a bit afraid, then they are stupid, uninformed, or both. Or liberal Democrats who think MORE government is the solution to everything and the rights guaranteed to all citizens by that document (you may have heard of it) called the Constitution is NEGOTIABLE. Personally, I don't think they are....

4:51, apparently you missed the point. Guess thats easy for all the "passionate" conservatives. No wonder you guys consider Palin/O'Donnell geniuses
